I don’t think we’ve seen the last of this model. I have small hands and a relatively narrow 6.5” wrist – not the best place to put a large, chunky watch. And then the G-SHOCK GA-2100 series caught my eye – and fit my wrist. Thanks to its Carbon Core Guard architecture, the GA-2100 is the thinnest analog-digital G-SHOCK’s ever made. Well, it was until sales of the “Casioak” went nuts . Look, I’m not saying you can pair this with “black tie” and come off looking clever.

But with this said, no one buys the Casioak as a tool. It protects the module by enclosing it in a carbon case. All three of the original GA-2100 versions have a negative liquid crystal screen with light colored letters. The other two are black , blending in well with the rest of the watch face.

If you press the upper-right and lower-left buttons at the same time, the hands will move out of the way of the LCD temporarily. But yes, I agree that there are better options if nighttime visibility and LCD functions are a priority. Unfortunately, most of the affordable analog G-Shock watches do not have the seconds hand, but the more expensive ones do. The GA-2100SU-1A with camo bezel and the green and black GA-2110SU-3A are new releases in the U.S. and are available at several retailers. Also new, but not released in the U.S., is the yellow and black GA-2110SU-9A that was released in Japan, Asia, Europe, and Australia. We wouldn’t be surprised to see more GA-2100 models released in 2020.

While the GA-2100 has more of the original G-Shock DNA in its style than some other recent models like the GA-2000, it is also a subdued style that has a mainstream appeal. Fans will easily g shock protection recognize it as a G-Shock, but at the same time, it doesn’t scream “G-Shock” to others. The new white band and bezel GA2100-7A is combined with a black face for a cool, refreshing look.

Whenever anyone considers digital watches, one of the first thoughts will likely be of G-Shock.
