The blackout GA A1 is still sold out everywhere, but more stock is expected in the coming months, and we will make a new post when it is available. The GA A and red GA A are also mostly sold out. Some of these models may be more readily available in some countries in regions like Southeast Asia, but beware of fakes at unauthorized shops and baby g shock online. Also, there are some online scams involving the GA A1 and other popular G-Shock models, where some e-commerce websites end up shipping a completely different model. Stick with reputable authorized retailers and avoid unknown stores. The GA-2100 series appears to be G-Shock’s most successful new model launch since the GMW-B5000.

The case is 11.8mm high and the lug to lug is 48mm making this one of the most wearable contemporary G-Shocks out there. It’s even slim enough to fit under my glove snowboarding. The Casio GA-2100 is a stunning watch with an affordable price tag of about $100. Buying a GA-2100, whether as everyday wear or for weekends and leisure, is within most people’s budgets and does not demand a significant financial sacrifice.

For long-time Casio lovers, I think a Casioak model is a no-brainer. I love mine and, having had the GM-2100 in my hand and on my wrist, will certainly consider adding a metal variation to the stable. Surely that’s what the people for whom Casio has made these watches desired, right?

Then the CasiOaks started appearing and for 104 euros, why not give one a try? My mustard yellow GA-2110SU-9AJF is simply fun to wear. I like the color, the playful dial, the lack of a second hand, the lume and the way the minute hand makes a little jump every 20 seconds. The basic design combines a slim case with an octagon double- molded bezel, decked out in a dark navy blue. The concept of the GA2100 delivered from the DW5000 and AW500.

This is a solid daily wear and the specs back that up. Select a color by clicking on a colored square located at the left to display all the watches matching that color. The all-black sombre elegance of the GA A1ER, the classic Casioak, pairs well even with a nice olive green shirt and tailored chinos. The hidden benefit of slim wrists, is the ability to get even quite chunky watches under a nice cuff and, for me, these types of style contrasts rule. OK, so the business meeting changed to another bloody Teams video chat , but no one knew, as the sharp shirt remained. To even consider a G-Shock with a shirt says much about the blacked-out versatility of this darkest reference, and while not exactly svelte, the lightweight build makes it a joy to wear.

Guided by a “Triple 10” development concept, the design teams sought a watch with 10-meter free-fall endurance, 10-bar water resistance and a 10-year battery life. This led to a shock resistant structure that includes a hollow-structured case, all-directional protective covering and the use of cushioning material to protect critical parts. The GA-2100 sword-shaped minute and hour hands won’t please lumatics, but the lume’s bright enough for one-handed time check in the dark, and it saves battery power. It’s too bad the G-SHOCK GA-2100 didn’t place lume dots near the indices. The on-board illumination button triggers both a back light for the digital screen and a LED for the analog display.

Personally, I find the GA A1 to be a fine daily watch, but only if I’m using it for the sole purpose of telling the time. If I need to use the digital functions or need to check the time at night a lot, then I would prefer to use another G-Shock. (Other GA-2100 models would be better suited g shock protection for nighttime use than the GA A1.) For me, the GA-2100 could never be my only watch, but I’m happy to have it as part of my small collection. There is no doubt that the similarity has garnered the GA-2100 a lot of attention online, which gave it more publicity than other recent models.

I considered underplaying the importance of case material when it comes to a brand known for its iconic silhouettes but I quickly decided I was being ridiculous. The conversation of what makes any Casio feel truly great on the wrist cannot ignore something as integral to that experience as the case material. And acting like the memorable aesthetics of the models we’ve come to adore over the past 40 years or so aren’t radically transformed by the material in which they’re brought to life is just as foolhardy an endeavor. Therefore, if you find yourself trying to decide between a “classic” resin-cased “Casioak” GA-2100 and its recently birthed metal counterpart, the GM-2100, read on.

The 45mm GA A1ER “Stealth” model has been designed to present a full blackout dial picture and the slightly smaller 43mm GMA-S2100-1AER which is also predominantly black but with polished rose gold indices and hands. Light, comfortable, very high eye appeal for the money, main hands surprisingly readable, other features not so much and I like how it doesn’t scream g shock watch G Shock in design, size and case wording. Those with narrower wrists don’t even think about the watch not fitting properly or seeming overly wide, which is a common issue with bigger G-Shock watches. Even though the display is bigger than the DW-5600, it wears similarly. It’s really an analog-digital version of the earlier DW-5600 with a few more functions.

The carbon-reinforced stainless steel GM-2100 case is 44.4mm wide, 11,8mm thick, and 49.3mm from lug-to-lug. Behind that mineral crystal, you will find an LED light, luminous hour and minute hands and markers, a pointer day indicator, and a digital screen. That digital screen features a 1/100 stopwatch function , a 12/24-hour display, a timer (up to 24-hours), a world timer function, an automatic calendar, and an alarm function . You can move the hands out of the way of the digital display with a simple push of a button. Delivered on a resin strap with a metal buckle, the watch is water-resistant to 200 meters and gives the impression of being so.
