Polo Ralph Lauren Clothing For Men

Smells like being bashed around the head with a pine branch. The first fragrance I’ve loved rather than just liked, before I was pretty disillusioned with what was on offer wrt modern fragrances, I think I might favour the older ones. This fragrance screams ‘Grandfather’ to me. It has a very classic scent that smells like a well put together older gentleman. It is a bit dated, but in a classic sense of the word. My only caveat is that the tobacco note is somewhere between the raw dried leaf and smoked cigarette smell.

It has amazing projection and lasts all day. This is the gold standard when it comes to masculine smelling men’s fragrances. What I get initially is pine needles and the general smell of being outdoors in the country.

Either the bottle now is diluted or my memory has diluted. Either way, I do enjoy it now but wish it can be the strong green beast-like in my memory. Polo is here for fans of beautiful, eternal things. Its name awakens association with a closed circle of the chosen and this circle has its rules polo dress shirts and traditions. As a truly masculine perfume, Polo does not contain floral notes, apart from camomile, which has more grassy than floral scent. The opening of the composition is green and fresh, made of grassy notes of artemisia, basil and thyme, with spicy notes of cumin, coriander and cloves.

This scent still insinuates instant credibility and faux sophistication upon even the most banal and superficially unsophisticated older men. A work of art in its capturing of the alpine forest and a timeless classic original. Nobody should be without this one in their arsenal, as it simply has first rate longevity and character. One of the five most important colognes of the 20th century. Despite being overused and over-worn, still maintains its dignity. It’s not a timeless scent, it is a very specific to its time scent, and that time is gone .

I don’t know why i was not interested in that perfume. Bought a travel spray out of a gift set. I think this is what Quorum wants to smell like but is harsher. Distinct scent for a discerning man.

In 1977, a young Ralph Lauren was challenged by his sensei, Lei Kazuma Kiryuu, to produce a fragrance that would transport the wearer to the men’s room of a Shaolin temple. Lauren reportedly laughed off the idea, but eventually polo dress shirts bet Kiryuu a sack of turnips that he could do just that. One year passed and the result was “Polo for Men,” also known as “Polo Green.” But the drydown is immaculate and slightly tobacco without it being smoky.

What I really would like to know is in what respects does the “Modern Reserve” differ to the “After Shave” splash on, and the “EDT”? Fragrances like this are a symbol of maturity and a solid strong personality; just made for men that are not looking for compliments but to wear the fragrance they only appreciate and love. Perhaps this sort of thing made a lasting impression on me as a kid – Brut and soap-on-a-rope for Xmas, I don’t know. But I’m learning that the woodsy/green/leathers with earthy patch/vetiver/oakmoss drydowns are usually winners for me.

Not exactly “sexy” positive, but “unique” positive, in a good way. All you need is the ’78 Firebird and to unbutton your shirt revealing a hairy chest to complete the picture. Smells green all day long – if you would like something more cleaner and less daring then floris 1962 is an option. A true Masterpiece of art in fragrance.
