The thing to know about this Cuisinart model is that it’s basically foolproof once you have the ice-cream mixture ready to go. All you need to do is hit the ON switch when you’re ready to get shaking. It has a 1 ½ quart capacity, which is substantial, though you will need to have the second double-insulated cuisinart pots and pans set freezer bowl waiting in the freezer for any leftovers. The recipe I used made a lot of ice cream, but I was still able to make all of it in just two batches. Do not use abrasive cleaners or sponges when cleaning the freezer bowl. Make sure your ice cream maker is unplugged before cleaning.

Outside of the units with longer churn times, one unit struggled to churn an evenly textured ice cream due to the shape of the paddle, which failed to combine and distribute the base evenly. Use this vanilla ice cream as the base for creating other flavored ice creams. Lots of ice cream recipes specify whole milk, but you can use any dairy milk in this recipe with good results. Then, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker, and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
I just made my first batch with fresh Colorado peaches. It took less than 20 minutes to freeze and the consistency was a delicious soft serve. My only problem was after about 12 minutes, the ice cream mixture expanded over the top of the freezer bowl and down the sides. I used the recommended amt of milk and cream, but perhaps added too many peaches.
The lid has a removable cup for measuring up to 1/2 cup of add-ins, and when the cup is removed, there’s a handy hole for pouring those ingredients in.
