2005- The first TCR with an integrated seatpost is commercially available in five sizes. I find once you’ve got a decent all rounder and climber the drop shop becomes pointless. I hoped they’d start putting things in that actually improve stuff, giant ROAD BIKES like aero helmets that do in fact reduce drag, or maybe the ability to buy boosts that you can bank and use in game. Either way, these new middling bikes are a bit pointless unless you simply want to collect them for the sake of it.
There are no frames in game which turn in the same performance as the Advanced SL Disc, so we have no direct comparisons. However, we can say that, at the price point of 745,500 Drops and a level lock of 14, there are certainly better performers available. This means the TCR Advanced SL Disc is only better than approximately 1/3 of the road frames in game, in terms of climb performance.
The early TCR was unique in its ability to excel in mountain stages and time trials. With its aerodynamic advantages, it was especially effective against the clock—Jalabert won several stage race time trials on it, and ONCE became a favourite at every team time trial it entered. This frame’s aero performance sits mid-pack compared to the full list of Zwift road frames, clocking in at 2 seconds faster than the older Giant TCR Advanced SL frame.
The more affordable Advanced Pro Disc and Advanced Disc frames will accept electronic or mechanical drivetrains, as will rim brake frames across all three levels. The new TCR is, however, said to be significantly more aerodynamic than the previous generation giant ROAD BIKES bike, saving 34 seconds over a distance of 40km at 200 watts, according to Giant. In reality, this means the new down tube is much broader than the previous model because it was designed around having standard 22oz water bottles in place.
Prototype testing of the 9th generation TCR Advanced SL begins with CCC Team pro racers. It is available in three frame sizes and has an angle-adjustable quill stem available in three different lengths . 23 years since that first-generation aluminium model, the bike has constantly evolved – this timeline shows key developments. I get the simplicity, and i guess the rating even make sense but i would assume that this is only the case because of outliers such as the Mountain bikes, or the Buffallo bike. Of course, experienced Zwifters know that real-world performance doesn’t necessarily translate to Zwift performance.
The TCR Advanced beats it narrowly due to its tight handling, as well as the less expensive offerings in the TCR Advanced range — notably, the Advanced SL 2, which is less than half the price at $4,500. Reengineered with updated aerodynamic tube shapingplus added clearance for larger diameter tyres , Giant say the new TCR Advanced delivers ‘outstanding all-rounder efficiency’. 2016- The 8th generation TCR, the first with integrated disc brakes, is introduced to consumers. In all relevant models, the Advanced SL headlines the series, and features Giant’s highest grade carbon fibers to produce a frames with high stiffness-to-weight ratios.
