Sumerians believed in an anthropomorphic polytheism, or the belief in many gods in human form. There was no common set of gods; each city-state had its own patrons, temples, and priest-kings. Nonetheless, these were not exclusive; the gods of one city were often acknowledged elsewhere.

I’m usually wearing watches around the 40mm range as that’s my sweet spot so you would think that the big jump in size would be awkward but it’s not, it feels just right on my 19cm (7.5 inch) wrist. If you’re used to wearing G-Shocks that usually come in at around 50mm in size you’ll find the new GA-2100 to be quite a bit smaller and more compact. The new GA-2100, also known as CasiOak due to the case’s that resembles an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, breaks away from the square-shaped case. While the G-Shocks have been analog before, the GA-2100 presents the handset front and center, consistently overtaking the digital display and giving the watch a familiarity that mechanical watch collectors will love. The G-Shock GA-2100 case and bezel comes with Casio’s own blend of resin and carbon fiber. They call it Carbon Core Guard structure because it is so light and strong.
The result is that G-Shock can build a case with a thinner layer of plastic material while still offering the same protection G-Shock is known for. If this case making technique is allowed to expand and trickle into other G-Shock lines the possibilities are nearly endless. If you wear this watch out in a public place, someone is going to comment on the fact that it’s red.

The hour markers are large and clear rectangles with easy to read hour and minute hands. Of course, there is no second hand as this is taken care of by the digital display. That is done using a unique angled screen between 3 and 6 o’clock and helps you control all the other functions. Those needing a more readable LCD display will be better off with another G-Shock, but will have to settle with either an all-digital model or a larger analog-digital one.
The strap is really of high-quality rubber and it gives a premium look. The Casio G-Shock GA-2100 range comes in three main colors – all black , black with some gray accents, and all red. OK, an entire week with only the popular G-Shock Casioak as a wrist buddy has been refreshing, but what about the dark blue suit / white shirt get-up I’ve got planned for a cocktail party? On Zoom – again, but with the laptop at a distance and the occasional stand-up toast, my choice is clear, making the threesome a glittering foursome (God save me if my wife read this, a week of top models and threesomes…) . The GA-2100 is interesting because the dial and case seem to all be part of the same object, as opposed to being distinct elements that make up a complete timepiece. Here is where the Royal Oak comparison actually makes the most sense – that’s a watch whose style is built on a harmony between the angular case and its integrated bracelet.
The GA-2100SU-1A with camo bezel and the green and black GA-2110SU-3A are new releases in the U.S. and are available at several retailers. Also new, but not released in the U.S., is the yellow and black GA-2110SU-9A that was released in Japan, Asia, Europe, and Australia. We wouldn’t be surprised to see more GA-2100 models released in 2020. The GA-2100 series appears to be G-Shock’s most successful new model launch since the GMW-B5000. The blackout GA A1, one of three debut models from 2019, is still widely sold out and unavailable.
