As seen of giants website the talon 2 has 2×9 rear shifter. A review of ANY bike is flawed without mention of weight. A comparison over Talon would have been useful to find out how much weight saving would be achieved by spending more money. This review provides no more information than Giant’s own web site. In fact given a previous comment, it suggests inaccuracies.
While we prefer the easy adjustability of air over a coil spring, it’s about what we’d expect for the money. Unless you’re unusually heavy or light for your height, the stock spring is likely to be about right. All bikes ‘talk’ to giant ROAD BIKES the rider, transmitting vibrations and bumps from the trail via the tyres, wheels, frame and rider contact points. And hardtails talk louder than full-sussers, simply because there’s no spring between the rear wheel and rider.
These bikes feature a fork upgrade to the SR Suntour XCT 30 HLO which is still coil sprung but now includes a lockout. The drivetrain is bumped up to 2×8 through the use of Altus and Acera components and the tyres move to more aggressive 2.4in Maxxis Rekons. Another uncommon bonus is the tubeless-ready rims, an almost unheard-of feature for a $750 bike. The Maxxis Ikon tires, however, aren’t tubeless-compatible, so you’ll have to buy your own tires, valves, and sealant to make that upgrade. If you intend on spending a lot of time on the trails, going tubeless will greatly improve handling and traction and prevent you from flatting. The giant ROAD BIKES9 2 is one of the best cheap mountain bikes we’ve tested.
The main goal of this website is to provide step-by-step cycling related guides, reviews, and how-to’s for different bike types. If you have enough money to spare, you can’t go wrong with it. Select local Retailers offer Home Delivery service on new bicycle purchases.

A steep 73.5-degree seat angle helps you keep power on the pedals and maintain traction on steep climbs. The 69-degree head angle doesn’t count as slack in the modern sense of long, low, and slack mountain bike geometry, but is more relaxed than the Marlin 7. When you’re bashing over rocks and roots every little bit counts and this small difference was perceptible.

it does not feel well suited for it, but its what I have and if i can just get a lower gear I can get by for now and can upgrade in a couple of years. There were no cost effective options in these parts for months so I bit the bullet on something that I could get my hands on to bike with my kids for a while. New bike is 1 x 8 with 32t front and Microshift rear components. Frame geometry is designed to optimise the balance and roll-over capabilities of 29-inch wheels or the liveliness of 27.5-inch wheels . There’s still 100mm of travel unless you opt for the XS or S size 29er bike. The drivetrain is a 1×10 configuration that’s mostly from Shimano’s Deore stable and pairs a 30t Prowheel chainset with a 11x42t cassette.
