This is a watch for everything, and I genuinely understand why it’s got such a star rating among the watch community. What makes the GA-2100 extremely compelling is that even among the G-Shock ranks, $99 is still the first stop on the way in (if you’re looking at list prices – we’ve seen this watch listed by re-sellers at triple list). It’s not only an affordable G-Shock, it’s the most affordable one in the entire range at $99, and that includes purely digital and ana-digi models. While this is a full featured G-Shock with timers, alarms, multiple time zones, and so forth, that, to me, isn’t what this watch is all about.
The answer, I think, is in how this watch wears, which is really unlike any other G-Shock I’ve strapped to my wrist. The blackout GA A1 is still sold out everywhere, but more stock is expected in the coming months, and we will make a new post when it is available. Some of these models may be more readily available in some countries in regions like Southeast Asia, but beware of fakes at unauthorized shops and online. While Casio nostalgia raiding my brain might explain the appeal of this watch for me, I also want to talk about case’s dimensions, and how they’ve been slimmed down from typical G-Shocks to make the wearing experience completely different.
