This is not a tactical watch and I’m not recommending it as a tool, I’m recommending it solely and exclusively as a design object. A new carbon core guard structure protects the module by enclosing it in a carbon case. The case is made of fine resin embedded with carbon fibers for outstanding strength and crack resistance. The tech, while stronger, also allows for a thinner case, which means you get a stronger material without adding on the bulk, reflected in the GA-2100’s more manageable 45 mm case size. When shopping for bang for buck EDC watches, very specific brands and models come to mind. Though Casio have developed premium lines for their other models, you could always count on the affordability of their general releases.

The 1/100 second stopwatch measures elapsed time, split times, and 1st/2nd place times. For the first 60 minutes times will be measured at 1/100 of a second and by seconds after 60 minutes. Two years ago I had on a mechanical watch for my season debut on the road and crashed in a roundabout at 30mph. That watch needed a re-casing, but the Casioak can take some punishment and, if too damaged, just pop on another shroud and strap set. So how does this sub-$100 watch manage to charm like the best of them? The case is 11.8mm tall, and even more, it wraps around the wrist in a way that makes it feel even thinner.
There have been many failed attempts to connect Sumerian to other language families. It’s as tough and almost indestructible as any other Casio G-Shock watch but it has a much more refined and sophisticated look and feel to it compared the other models in the G-shock range. Obviously I’m not going to sit here and call it a dress watch but it is definitely more than just a tool watch. The answer, I think, is in how this watch wears, which is really unlike any other G-Shock I’ve strapped to my wrist. The blackout GA A1 is still sold out everywhere, but more stock is expected in the coming months, and we will make a new post when it is available. Some of these models may be more readily available in some countries in regions like Southeast Asia, but beware of fakes at unauthorized shops and online. Also, there are some online scams involving the GA A1 and other popular G-Shock models, where some e-commerce websites end up shipping a completely different model. Stick with reputable authorized retailers and avoid unknown stores. While the GA-2100 has more of the original G-Shock DNA in its style than some other recent models like the GA-2000, it is also a subdued style that has a mainstream appeal.
While I love mechanical watches, this is just an understated, feather-light presence that does its job quietly.
