Protect my son, there can make safer travel, support rubberized arm, cup holder and compartment for toys. In other words, this is meant to graduate from a normal graco travel system safety car seat for toddlers to a belted booster seat, then to a booster seat with no back support. When it comes to kids’ stuff, Graco is a well-known brand.
I however decided to go with a “Chicco my fit harness” for my vehicle. The Nautilus LX comes with three recline positions, which might not be enough to completely stop bobbling heads in some situations. This is because, most of the time the seat changes by about an inch when titled, thereby graco jogging stroller needing more recline. Except you are using a big minivan or SUV, this might be a problem. For several years now, Graco has delivered a lot of products that truly reflects high industrial standard, as well as the company’s commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of kids.
To go from high back to backless mode on the Nautilus, once again hinge the seat back with the red buttons pushed back at the hips. When those are sticking up, at the very back of the backless portion there are two more red buttons. Squeeze them together and pull the backless portion away from the high back portion. If you need an all-in-one seat that will provide great value for your money, then the Nautilus LX 65 will make a great choice. It comes loaded with a lot of features you are likely going to enjoy. The major difference between both models can be seen in the harness and LATCH system.
The graco travel system is equipped with multiple different safety features to keep your mind at ease while on the road. Overall, this seat lasts your child from 22 to 100 pounds or 57 inches tall. While Britax is a competitor of Graco, they are very similar car seats. That being said, there are a few notable differences between Graco’s Nautilus and Britax’s Frontier and Pioneer seats. Here’s a quick breakdown of how the Graco Nautilus compares to some of the other top brand car seats on the market today.
As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. The IIHS ranks the Nautilus as a Best Bet when used in highback mode; the Britax Frontier earns the same rating. Consumer Reports gave the Nautilus its top rating for crash protection (“excellent”), scoring it at the top of its rankings of 12 harnessed boosters. The Nautilus’s biggest competitor is the Britax Frontier, so let’s see how they compare. The Britax Frontier is bigger and wider than the Nautilus—and the Britax seat works up to 90 lbs.
For an easier reference, she’s just coming into size 6 shirts, size 5s often still fit. The Nautilus was on the second to highest position, much to my surprise. The seat would last her in harness mode for probably another year, until she’s moving from a size 6 to about a size 7.
Attaching the booster to the car isn’t too difficult and can be done using LATCH or the vehicle belt depending on the size of your child or your car. LATCH can still be used when the seat is in booster mode which means your booster won’t be flying about the car when your child isn’t in it. The only thing I can honestly say I don’t like about this product is the cover and seat padding.
The Nautilus DLX and Nautilus 80 Elite have a built in lockoff. Graco states to use the lockoff when installing with a lap and shoulder belt instead of locking the retractor. The lockoff is easy to use, and it’s familiar to parents who have used most Graco lockoffs for the past eight years or so. A gray and red arm that clamp down in opposite directions from one another.
In a 2015 Toyota Camry and a 2011 Mercedes E350 wagon the installs were nearly instantaneous and very easy, which is how the Nautilus has installed since it was released. The cubbies and cupholder that have been on the seat since it first came out are still there, and still a child favorite. The fit in all modes is generally good in the Nautilus. Graco has traditionally has good belt fits for nearly all size kids. The Nautilus is a little more hit and miss, but with this model (newly turned 6 years old, 45″, 48 pounds) the belt fit was ideal. I have used a Nautilus with my older daughter and the fit was great on her.
