This is super good because it helps draw that harm away from your kid in an accident (not to mention that it will hold up to a very energetic toddler who is hard on the seat!). That foam combined with the 5 point safety harness means that your child is safe during an accident. The Nautilus LX was created with the company’s SafeSeat engineering for durability and reliability. The plastic frame is combined with steel parts for safety. Switching your car seat between the harness and belt-positioning booster mode is so easy.
Graco has also added a third recline position for the Nautilus. Any recline position can be used at any age, weight, or mode of seat. However, they really don’t do a lot in terms of comfort for the child. The distance between them is just not great enough for it to be more than an aid in installation, or perhaps a small change for the child.
Ideally, kids should have some kind of booster until about age 8 to 12, depending on their size. Once the car seat is attached to your vehicle, all you graco travel system need to do is to lock down the SnugLock arm. While the Nautilus 65 has a LATCH system, it doesn’t offer this same technology as the SnugLock LX.
There are only three other products that weigh more or are wider. This makes the Graco hard to use for carpooling or for travel as the width may not fit next to other car seats and the heft will be hard to carry. The Graco can be used as a backless booster for children between 40 and 100 lbs which will make it better for travel, but the width remains the same even if the back is gone. The maximum weight graco booster seat limit for the backless booster mode for the LX model is 20 pounds higher, so it allows your child to use the seat until they reach 120 pounds. When the time comes, the seat converts to a belt-positioning booster and is suitable for children from 30 to 100 pounds and up to 57 inches tall. Lastly, in backless booster mode, the acceptable weight range is from 40 to 100 pounds, and 57 inches tall as well.
However, as we’ve just read above, the Nautilus 65 doesn’t have this option. This is great for those children who accidentally spill a drink or are potty-training and have an accident. You must read your carseat and vehicle owner’s manual and understand any relevant state laws. These are the rules you must follow to restrain your children safely.
