The Giant Stance 2 integrates a lot of unique elements that combine to deliver a robust and surprisingly stable ride through and through. One of the primary features of this bike that stood out to me was the premium quality ALUXX aluminum frame that is lightweight yet very durable. The fork on the Giant has fantastic small-bump sensitivity that generates lots of traction and control – the 15mm QR increasing steering precision, tracking and confidence even further. Having a dropper post dramatically improves ride quality as I can always ensure I’m in the best possible riding position. The added width gives more traction, a smoother ride, and can inspire confidence in new riders as the ride feels more stable, though the wider tires do incur a small weight penalty. The Stance 2’s wheels and tires come tubeless with sealant, a rare feature at this price.
The brake levers have adjustable reach so you can dial things in on the trail as you need more control or switch from bare hands to gloves. This probably also benefits smaller and larger riders who select the different sized frames, so the brakes are reachable and feel comfortable. The calipers have been upgraded to quad piston for a larger braking surface, which adds power and cooling. The rotors are large 203mm vs. 180mm, improving the mechanical advantage and offering better control over the large 29er wheels. Vast network of dealers means that you get in-person advice, fitting, post-purchase tuneups and warranty support. This should not be overlooked if you ride frequently or have limited experience with bike tools, even though it does add to the price of the initial purchase.
