Cuisinart Griddler Indoor Grill Review
I was lazy and we didn’t keep our older griddler as clean as we could. I bought waffle plates tonie with it an decided what the heck, buy another griddler. I had couple of instances where the old ones heating controls were suspect.
I first discovered this clever gadget from Sara Blakely’s Instagram Stories. When billionaire Blakely isn’t running her successful company, Spanx, she has a tradition of taking requests for imaginative pancake shapes from her kids for family breakfasts. The least expensive of the Griddler line (which also includes the Griddler Grill & Panini Press and the Griddler Deluxe), this is a very affordable little grill that gets the job done without a lot of fancy extras. The dials are simple controls with lights that let you know they’re in use, but it cooks efficiently despite the lack of frills. We liked that we could open the Griddler flat to have two different cooking surfaces. Offers elegance and finesse to your kitchen with brushed stainless-steel housing on the base and cover.
The plates are removable, and we washed by hand and in the dishwasher and got good results both ways. It just comes with two plates, they are reversible, grill on one side, griddle on the other. They sell waffle plates as well, but they cost almost as much as the grill did, so we didn’t buy them.
The brushed stainless steel housing means it’s a stylish addition to any kitchen and while the compact size does mean it’s best suited to cooking meals for one or two people, it does also make it easier to store. If you’re looking for an indoor grill for family use, take a look at our round up of the best indoor grills for a range of options. Behind the soft brushed stainless steel finish of the Cuisinart Griddler Elite contact grill hides a solidly constructed housing boasting 1800 watts of power. The stainless steel cover with sturdy cast metal handle self-adjusts to the thickness of the food being cooked. It provides a generous 240 square inches of cooking surface, enough for 12 pancakes on full griddle mode, or 6 burgers in contact grill position.
The Elite’s heating element is unique among cuisinart soup makers in that it is sandwiched between the grill and the griddle plates for more efficient heat distribution and temperature control. This Cuisinart Griddler features two interchangeable and reversible plates that lock in place. The plates that come with the model are flat on one side like a griddle and grooved like an electric grill on the other side. You can also open the lid completely so the two plates sit evenly next to one another, doubling your surface area for cooking. Very similar to the Elite in terms of sturdy housing and finish, the Cuisinart Griddler Deluxe also features an adjustable cover and operates on 1800 watts of power. Weighing 16.00lbs, it measures 15.98″L x 14.60″W x 7.87″H and provides a generous 240 square inches of cooking surface.
At twice the price of the standard Griddler, the Elite is more of an investment, so it’s only worthwhile if those extra features are must-haves. Additionally, the device comes with a removable drip tray to catch grease from cooking surfaces and a scraping tool both allowing for easy clean up. Owners of the Cuisinart Griddler grill and panini press GR-4N praise its versatility and how easy it is to clean. Waffle enthusiasts particularly love the fact that they can make waffles with plates purchased separately. They also find it easy to select the proper temperature for each function. Owners appreciate how easy it is to use and clean the Cuisinart Gr-150, as well as its quality, versatility and large cooking surface.
There are temperature controls ranging from 200 to 425 degrees Fahrenheit for the griddle and warm to sear for the grill and panini giving you freedom to prepare your food exactly as you desire. Featuring a plastic lower housing, self-adjusting stainless steel cover and arms of die-cast aluminum with plastic panini-style handle, the GR-11 operates on 1200 watts of power. Its drip tray slides under the unit, and adjustable front feet help with grease drainage. Weighing 15.70lbs, it measures 12.80″L x 10.90″W x 6.00″H, providing 150 square inches of cooking surface in open position. The 3-in-1 Cuisinart GR-11 grill and panini press comes with a limited 1 year warranty. The Cuisinart Griddler Indoor Grill is a compact appliance that is designed to cook a wide variety of foods thanks to its five separate cooking options.
The Cuisinart Griddler boasts the ability to work as an indoor grill, a griddle, and a panini press, but does it do all three jobs well? We used it to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner, testing both the flat and ridged plates, and we enjoyed the results. While we’re not getting rid of our outdoor grill for cooking steaks on a sunny day, we appreciated the ease of using the Griddler, as well as the simple cleaning of the grill plates in the dishwasher.
Its Drip Tray slides into a slot located on the side of the unit base. It’s six cooking options i.e. contact grill, panini press, full griddle, full grill, half grill, half griddle & top melt, let you do your own thing in the kitchen and experiment with food the way you cuisinart soup maker wanted. Both nonstick plates are reversible and firmly attached into the unit so that they cannot easily become loose. The GRILL side is perfect for steak, burgers, chicken and vegetables; use the GRIDDLE side to make pancakes, eggs, heat tortillas or sear scallops.
