Samsung’s SSD 980 is its new budget NVMe drive, and its performance in early reviews looks promising. Its suggested retail pricing is $70 for 500 GB and $130 for 1 TB, which is a bit higher than the WD Blue SN550 typically sells for, but the SSD 980 is also usually the faster drive. Samsung’s drives often go down in price in the weeks and months after they’re released, so we’ll wait and see what its actual cost is after it officially launches in late March of 2021.
