I only wear this around the house occasionally in the fall and winter months because I love the smell. This is my wife’s favorite of all my fragrances and will always have a place in my collection. To me it’s a special occasional one. You wear it if you want to celebrate something. To me, it smelled like nothing else. However, as I recall there was a sweet aspect to it back in the day. I have no idea what notes I smelled. I thought this might be one of those frags that I would take some time to enjoy, but I actually love this one on my initial testing.
One year passed and the result was “Polo for Men,” also known as “Polo Green.” But the drydown is immaculate and slightly tobacco without it being smoky. This is such an intoxicating scent that it becomes you. Once you grow up with this, your standards are so much higher in what you expect a good edt to be. This is something millenials just don’t understand. Look if God had his own perfume house, then this would be the garden of Eden scent.
I am glad I made this purchase, but I think I may have been better off seeking a clone of the original formula. I had a department store knock off from years ago, and it was closer to the original than the current formulation. Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt Just got my bottle yesterday, it is a current formulation. When I opened the box the smell was resonating from the package, I was very pleased. I sprayed it on lightly and it was close to what I recalled.
I can see this as a year round fragrance, but probably best suited to the cooler type of weather, especially spring, where it reminds me of a crisp, spring morning, with dew still on the grass. This is like walking through a cool pine forest. This is a love from me and I believe that if you love greenness, nature and green, spicy, herbal, grassy fragrances generally, then you will love this. Definitely one to try and wear first. Still a great and unique smell even today.
If anything this cologne gets the most positive reaction from younger women out of all my colognes. Not exactly “sexy” positive, but “unique” positive, in a good way. All you need is the ’78 Firebird and to unbutton your shirt Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt revealing a hairy chest to complete the picture. I will most likely give an update in the future, maybe on 6 months when I’ve got a more solid opinion, but I have a feeling I’m only going to like this fragrance more.
