Are Giant Bikes Good

Older generation Anthem models (pre-2018) were also available in a less race-focused 27.5” wheel option with 120mm of travel. Seeing the opportunity for more growth, Lui and Lo decided to branch out and produce their own bike brand. Giant bikes officially launched in Europe in 1986 and in the U.S. a year later.

The latex tube is lighter, thinner and more flexible than a butyl tube, increasing your comfort, lowering your rolling resistance, and helping to prevent flats. This tire includes PPS, a Puncture Protection System placed between the tread and casing to increase resistance to punctures. Handmade – Handmade tires combine many attributes to create the most comfortable and lowest rolling resistance tires.

At this price point, we start to see RockShox suspension creeping in. At the front is a RockShox 35 Gold RL and the rear suspension is still handled by a Fox DPS Performance. SRAM is in charge of the drivetrain here with the Eagle SX groupset, including the cranks with the same 30t chainring. It gets Giant AM 29 wheels on Giant hubs with a Maxxis Minion DHF 29×2.5″ EXO on the front and a Maxxis Dissector 29×2.4″ EXO on the rear. Not only is the Reign SX the cheapest rig in the range but it’s also the only Reign that comes with 650b wheels.

Traction and control Updated Maestro Suspension with an Advanced Forged Composite rocker arm and trunnion-mount shock delivers smooth suspension performance on XC climbs, corners and descents. We engineered the geometry of the Advanced composite frame and swingarm around larger diameter 29-inch wheels. That means shorter chainstays, a longer toptube, and just the right angles with the headtube (64.56 degrees) and seattube (76.36 degrees). We gave it an updated Maestro rear suspension system with 146mm of travel.

Giant went on to create iconic models, like the Cadex 980 road bike in 1987 and the ATX One DH downhill bike in the late ‘90s. Other innovations have included the Compact Road design of the late ‘90s and OverDrive tapered head tubes in 2006. Each person’s body is unique and two persons of the same height may find that the same bike fits differently.

The frame is designed with trail-friendly geometry that includes a slack 66-degree head angle and a 130mm suspension fork. By combining an aluminum frame and fork with name- and house-brand components, Giant has built a dependable bike suitable for most types of road riding. An 8-speed cassette includes a 34t cog that’s smaller than what you’ll usually find on comparable bikes and is great for new or seasoned riders who like an extra gear when climbing.

You might think this could cause quality control issues but this is a misconception. Their quality control is top notch and Taiwan actually has a good reputation when it comes to producing quality products. Ride them both, this is the only way to find out what you like more and which fits your riding style best. This way you can judge for yourself instead of relying on what others say.
