And the base, cover, and control panel dials can be wiped down with a damp cloth then buffed with a soft, dry cloth. The heating elements in the Elite are inside the plates for more efficient heating, and the temperature of the grill plates can be controlled independently. But the one extra we found most interesting was the ability to set the lid above the surface of the food, so you can heat without contact. While that might not be something you’d need every day, it would be great for cooking open-faced sandwiches or reheating pizza slices.

The slight tilt of this 5-in-1 griddler results in better drainage than older versions, but it causes liquid scrambled eggs to run off the griddle when in open mode. I’ve been thinking about which Panini press to get it and this one certainly seems worth the extra cost.
