Polo Ralph Lauren Cologne

In 1972, Lauren released a short-sleeve cotton shirt in 24 colors. This design, emblazoned with the company’s famed logo—that of a polo player, created by tennis pro René Lacoste—became the brand’s signature look. In 1977 Ralph Lauren Corporation introduced a signature cotton mesh polo shirt in various colours, featuring the polo player logo on the chest. Still smells great but unfortunately for me my stepfather still wears this and I have a hard time wearing this and feeling like it’s my own.

It smells exactly what I remember back in the day, but the silage is only several hours if that, not quite as long as the the EDT. What I really would like to know is in what respects does the “Modern Reserve” differ to the “After Shave” splash on, and the “EDT”? Fragrances like this are a symbol of maturity and a solid strong personality; just made for men that are not looking for compliments but to wear the fragrance they only appreciate and love. This is a milestone in men’s perfumery. Probably the most classic and the most masculine of all men’s fragrances.

I first smelled this on my friend who wore a Chaps Ralph Lauren brown leather jacket. It is burned in my memory as having a relation to leather, yet the green notes of pine seem to dominate this wonderful scent. You need to be an old school manly man to wear this. I actually find the smell offensive, and I don’t like it, which is exactly the desired effect I think.

This is leafy and dry tobacco rolled up with a bunch of Asian spices just off the ship from Portuguese and Dutch traders back from Malaysia and Indonesia. Italians, Germans and Brits until Polo unleashed this dirty frontiersman like woody monster on the buying public. Do you like warm spice, earthy tobacco, muddy roots, green and damp decaying woods in the late evening just a few degrees above freezing?

On June 12, 1997, the company becomes a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. In 1977, Diane Keaton and Woody Allen wore Lauren’s clothes in the Oscar-winning ralph lauren t shirt film, Annie Hall. Lauren started The Ralph Lauren Corporation in 1967 with men’s ties. At 28 years-old, Lauren worked for the tie manufacturer Beau Brummell.

Basically, what hits you first is the mix of cut grass and other plants, then the unmistakable piquant smell of the black pepper. 90% of what I’ve sampled before have been women’s fragrances, which tend to skimp on the black pepper. While I think that it would smell quite masculine and attractive on a man, I’m not sure that a woman wouldn’t be able to wear it in the right circumstances.

It still lasts well and seems more versatile now to me. A class in a bottle, stands on its own and is a trendsetter – a one and only green and leather chypre with a huge load of tobacco. This is the worst fragrance I’ve ever smelled. I’m not sure what went wrong – but I don’t believe people actually wear whatever I smelled. Smells like being bashed around the head with a pine branch.

I’ve gotten a couple compliments from this fragrance and also love it myself . This is the gold standard when it comes to masculine polo dress shirts smelling men’s fragrances. What I get initially is pine needles and the general smell of being outdoors in the country.
