The 860 Evo’s average power draw varies by capacity and ranges from 2.2 W to 3 W , but maximum power draw is 4 W across all capacities. Next we looked at our VDI benchmarks that tax the drives a bit more; these tests include Boot, Initial Login, and Monday Login. For the Boot test, the gtx 1080 8gb again showed performance well below expectations. The EVO started above sub-millisecond latency performance and quickly peaked at 2,316 IOPS with a latency of 3.11ms. The 860 PRO ran below 1ms latency until 27K IOPS and peaked at 29,869 IOPS with a latency of 2.17ms. Sequential 64K write gave another weak performance by the 860 EVO.
Sticking with my Samsung 960 EVO Series 1TB too , crazy fast , but the 860 is another solid release from Samsung , best on the market in terms of reliability. In some instances, you can even delete all the data with the secure erase function from inside the operating system. But that’s only if the stars align and you boot from a different drive. The list of criteria for that process to work keeps getting longer. You can also use Magician to build a bootable thumb drive to reach the same conclusion. Unfortunately, it just takes more steps and complicates the process.
