The dial works with quartz movement, but this Casio also has a digital sub-dial, capable of showing the time in 24-hour format. The front backlight button adds extra accessibility for use in the darkness. As you can see from the image, the design has remained unchanged from the 90s. The blue line in the middle of the display is a visual second counter, giving the watch a military look. DW-9052 is often seen worn by military personnel around the world, so maybe the tactical display has something to do with that. The watch can be set to beep, or vibrate, but not both at the same time. If you’ve gotten enough sleep, you can count on the vibration to wake you up in the morning.
There’s something about looking at a whole watch dial that offers a broader perspective on time, and this is certainly part of the allure here. The surfing features are nice, but ultimately a novelty for most. For the first time, Casio used a carbon and resin g shock protection shell-like structure, called a monocoque, for the watch’s case.
