A class in a bottle, stands on its own and is a trendsetter – a one and only green and leather chypre with a huge load of tobacco. This is the worst fragrance I’ve ever smelled. I’m not sure what went wrong – but I don’t believe people actually wear whatever I smelled. This fragrance screams ‘Grandfather’ to me. It has a very classic scent that smells like a well put together older gentleman.
While Paco Rabanne Pour Homme turns sweet and musky, Polo stays more green, mossy and earthy, more outdoorsy and crisp. I definitely get some caraway or cumin, and tobacco . But there is also just a hint of sweetness in the background that binds together the green, earthy and spicy notes. But those Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt who grew tired of its ubiquitous presence 3 decades ago, should reassess Polo, having had enough time elapse to heal those wounds that result from our reactions to something all too familiar. (This can also be said for many popular “men’s powerhouse fragrances” from the late 70’s and 80’s).
I have re-acquired many fragrances in the last 18 months that I once wore back in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, but let a couple of decades elapse before replenishing stock and wearing them again. One of my favourite frangraces, real masculine smell with great longevity, which gives you time to enjoy it in its different stages.starts of with grassy notes than finishes off with a leathery scent. It’s my signature scent and I have almost 40 fragrances so I have tried a lot. Still, it’s not a blind buy because the smell is so distinct. Polo by Ralph Lauren (“Polo Green”) is one that I bought again. It’s somewhat divisive; I get the best and worst comments on this one, but the good comments outweigh the bad by far.
I can’t imagine any occasion that would be suitable for it and it smells way too outdated. The dark grey suit and lace-up leather shoes come next with the tortoise-shell rimmed glasses and that handsome mustache neatly trimmed. It has a great longevity and good sillage. I don’t know why i was not interested in that perfume. Bought a travel spray out of a gift set. I think this is what Quorum wants to smell like but is harsher.
I started wearing this amazing scent in college in the early 80’s. It was my only fragrance for 30 years. I have gone through so many bottles, I have lost count. The Warner bottles were the best fragrance ever made. Every time I purchased a bottle, I would be gifted Polo bags and other gifts .

Honestly it reminds me of a smoky single malt scotch with a medicinal aura about it. Use it sparingly and the colder outside the better. I wore this infrequently in high school and only recently reacquired ralph lauren t shirt it. I loved it for its masculine juniper and pine as a child, and now I appreciate the subtle backbone of leather. This is a clean, older-style scent, and is very much in my wheelhouse as a result.
