Amd Ryzen 5 3600 6

Overclocking the R gets it to 979 points, an improvement of just 2.3%. The 9600K with an overclock leaps by 13%, from 942 points to 1065 points. AMD’s R5 can hold its own here, but frequency dependence in Photoshop does shift the recommendation to be less strongly towards the 3600. The CPUs at 240 FPS average and above are almost entirely GPU limited, but all of our 3600 results fall just short of that range.

Given the $249 MSRP for the Ryzen XT, the Core i K no longer sits in the midrange as the no-doubter option for 1080p gamers who might also run entry-level content creation tasks on the same machine. The 12-thread Hyper-Threading feature, brought back by Intel, came just in the nick of time to keep the Core i K from being written off altogether as any gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb kind of value for creative types. (After all, the Ryzen G does exist, if you want to go that route, and its IGP is excellent.) But hopefully by the time Zen 3 comes along, we’ll have a muscular processor in the $250 range from AMD that also comes with the option of a Vega IGP. Due to popular demand, we’ve switched to DX12 for our Hitman 2 testing.

Haven’t turned it on yet due to slow delivery of RAM and Video card but it is the second of two new builds same system. A great processor for just about anything you want to do, it can hang with the higher priced processors other than the thread rippers. In comparison the 3600X is the same processor and almost in a dead heat when bench marked. It was a shame to see all the recommended graphics cards out of stock due to miners buying all of them. I already had one RX 570 8GB OC so I opted to go with the RX 580 for both of my new Ryzens. I bought this CPU wondering if it was going to be an upgrade over my Intel I5 6600K. I can honestly say it is.

Merchandise must be in new condition, with original carton/UPC, and all packaging/accessories/materials. If you need to return software, a game or a movie, remember that you may not retain any copies — it’s not legal, and it’s not nice. Intel continues to prove that its approach to chip design, if you’re talking about game frames, is consistently the faster option versus AMD when you look at similarly priced chips. However, the gulf isn’t nearly as large as it used to be, as evidenced by the Core i K’s and the Ryzen XT’s results above.

We offer everything from high end PC custom builds and advice to the latest hardware and component reviews, as well as the latest breaking gaming news. It could be said that Zen 2’s improved memory configuration isn’t exactly latency-free, but multi-threaded cores do tend to lack the raw speed of single-core CPUs. Moving on to an RTX 2080 Ti GPU for demanding games in UHQ 1080p such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we get an impressive performance from both CPUs. The 3600 wins out in the end, but only by a single frame, all while sharing a minimum 54fps frame rate. Remember earlier when we mentioned that multi-thread cores aren’t exactly the best for gaming alone?

But, it’s hard to recommend the B550 PRO4 at the time of writing article as for just $5 more you will significantly increase your overclocking potential. If the price comes down on this board, or the ASUS Prime X570-P goes up in price, that narrative might change, though. It can support up to 128GB of DDR4 memory, it has one PCIe 4.0 lane, it is a standard ATX form-factor, and it comes with USB 3.2 support. The board has a nice-looking design, is a standard-ATX form-factor, can support up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM, has plenty of RGB lighting features, has excellent support for overclocking, and features PCIe 4.0 and USB 3.2 technology.
