G Shock Rangeman Review

There have been several limited editions of the Masters series, and depending on their scarcity these command some of the highest prices for any of Casio watches. The Men in Black and Men in Yellow series are black and yellow versions of the Masters and typically command anywhere between two and three times the resale value of the regular versions. The Master of G is a line of G-Shock watches produced by Japanese electronics company Casio designed for usage in harsh environments.

Taking the CasiOak out for a run, I set the stopwatch to hit the road one sunny afternoon. This is the first digital G-Shock I’ve owned that’s featured a white-on-black digital display. It really pops in bright light and the digits have almost a reflective quality. I had worried that as I was huffing and puffing on the backstretch of my 5K, the small digital stopwatch display would prove inadequate and I wouldn’t be able to read it at a glance.

G-SHOCK watches are legendary when it comes to shock absorption. They are engineered to survive drops, bumps, water, and temperature extremes. The first G-Series sports watch was released in the early ’80s. Its status as near-invincible gained attention through a TV commercial that showed the watch being hit by a hockey puck. There have been numerous iterations of the G-Shock through the years culminating in the Rangeman line.

This watch is packed with functions, has an even sportier design than many others, and is built to last. In 2006, the new Mudman models were introduced in the Master of G range of watches followed by the new Gulfman models in 2007. The author of this review received a sample of the product from the brand or its representative in exchange for a review. The Rangeman watch has so many incredible features and abilities but the price that comes at is having to cycle through them all to get to the one you want. And I’ll be honest, it’s not the easiest screen to read, even with the backlight. Yeah, yeah, I read all the reviews and heard all the complaints about how hard the negative display is to read in less than optimal lighting.

The basic black coloring of this model further enhances the rough and tough look of the resin material and the MASTER OF G design. Base model is the RANGEMAN GW9400 with a time stamp feature that lets you record the current time in memory with the touch of a button. I really enjoy the look of this watch as I wanted to get the green one but as I read the reviews that you could not see the face due to the black color, I opted for the black watch instead. The anodized red looks sharp and the ease of use is great whether you are changing world time while traveling or getting updated time from the atomic timekeeping.

Also calibrating the compass has never been so easy to perform. I’m really happy with my G Shock purchase and look forward to long yrs of use. A little tip to those who have corrosion issues or watch band issues. baby g shock Never shower with your watch or wash dishes with dish soap. Never wear watch while working around or near chemicals. Shower wash, detergents or other cleaning chemicals will absolutely destroy a watch!

And unlike my phone, the device I used to get all of my meteorological data from, I don’t have to worry about this watch getting wet or dirty or bumped around. This is another feature that I don’t get enough use out of in my every day, posh, comfy lifestyle though I’m sure it would be invaluable out in the woods. The problem I have with the Rangeman watch is that I have to take the watch off to get an accurate reading. Combined with a compass, you can use your altimeter to navigate through hilly or mountainous terrain.
