Men’s Rangeman Triple Sensor Black Watch
Taking the CasiOak out for a run, I set the stopwatch to hit the road one sunny afternoon. This is the first digital G-Shock I’ve owned that’s featured a white-on-black digital display. It really pops in bright light and the digits have almost a reflective quality. I had worried that as I was huffing and puffing on the backstretch of my 5K, the small digital stopwatch display would prove inadequate and I wouldn’t be able to read it at a glance.
Some say the Rangeman looks more rugged because the buttons stick out of the sides. This gives it a more jagged silhouette compared to the Madman’s rounder, softer outline. The app provides more detailed information and data about your terrain, routes and movements which the watch screen can’t display. Not only is it water and dust resistant, it’s also mud resistant. Gaskets have been fitted to the buttons to ensure the brown stuff doesn’t sneak inside when the weather turns grim.
And especially the sunset/sundown functionality when you’re in the woods. On the back of the watch, you’ll see an engraved design figure of the “Rangeman” mascot, which is rare for Casio to include with its design elements. G-Shock’s Rangeman feels comfortable on the wrist, despite its oversized look.
I was originally looking at the GPW series, and even know the global satellite is cool, to change timezones it really wasn’t worth spending over 700 for that watch when you got more with this one. I love having all the features of the pro-trek in a g-shock and the steel buttons are not only functional but look great too. Thanks to recent advancements, Casio was able to produce even smaller electronic components, making the RANGEMAN one of the first to employ the new Shock Resistant Triple Sensor technology. Constructed of metal, with an oversized, textured surface, the watch’s design ensures accessibility of information even with a gloved hand. Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping – The Rangeman receives time calibration radio signals for accurate timekeeping at all times. You can set the watch to manually receive signals, or auto-receive signals up to 6 times per day.

GPS navigation is usable for approximately 33 hours on a wireless charge of about five hours. If the battery becomes depleted, GPS functions can be resumed by charging the watch in bright light. (GPS functions are usable for one hour on a solar charge of approximately four hours in 50,000 lux conditions.) Regardless of the status of GPS functions, solar charging keeps the time display powered at all times. Watches with the triple sensor feature include an atmospheric pressure barometer and an altimeter, in addition to the compass and thermometer sensor.
G-SHOCK watches are legendary when it comes to shock absorption. They are engineered to survive drops, bumps, water, and temperature extremes. The first G-Series sports watch was released in the early ’80s.
