Rangeman
With the large variety of wristwatches and their commitment to progress, it is no surprise Casio has remained amongst the giants in the industry. It does not measure up to the tough construction and the highly interesting mixture of functions. Having the Rangeman marketed as a watch for survival in the toughest conditions while the much-too-low zoom factor in navigation could easily lure one up the wrong flank of a mountain, however, makes me doubt Casio a bit.
This line offers a number of features that should be appreciated by people who love the outdoors. Despite only one of the watches bearing the moniker, both the Mudman and the baby g shock Rangeman have mud resistant buttons. The only difference is that the Rangeman features stainless steel buttons, which are more durable than the Mudman’s besin buttons.
It’s also the easier watch to have if you travel a lot. This means that the Rangeman is a fundamentally better timekeeper than the Mudman. I have the tendency to fall into a rabbit hole of scrolling when I use my phone to tell the time. If you’re like me, and you wear a watch predominantly to have the time on your person, the Rangeman is a fully accurate and reliable option. Tough Solar is Casio’s proprietary charging technology.
With that said, you either need to enjoy wearing large watches or have a large wrist to pull this off, but this isn’t anything new. Like most G-Shocks, the watch is presented with a sturdy and robust black resin case. The case is thick and creates strong protection against shocks, making it extremely durable.
Stable reception is achieved by thus arranging the ring-form antenna outside the case. There is black with red accents, khaki green with yellow accents, and a camo/black hybrid also with red accents. G-Shock models with Tough Solar Power last longer than other models.
This means the Mudman has a compass and a thermometer sensor. The Rangeman has more technical features than the Mudman overall. It also has a more effective World Time due to its Atomic Timekeeping capabilities, and a more instinctual digital compass. At the push of a button (seeing a theme here?), you can access an easy-to-use digital compass in both the Rangeman and the Mudman. Relatedly, the Rangeman comes in a negative display variant, which means the digits are white and the background is dark.
