Straw Hat Grand Fleet
The band and bezel of this model is illustrated with images of Monkey D. Luffy, the main protagonist of One Piece. The hand of the indicator dial at 9 o’clock has a hat motif that is similar to the hat worn by the Luffy character. Specially designed packaging identifies this as a truly special collaboration model. This new special collaboration model captures the essence of the spirit of G-Shock’s constant and unending evolution and innovation. The base model is the internationally popular digital-analog GA-110 Series.
The GW-9400 Rangeman and GWN-1000 Gulfmaster models have a Triple Sensor with a digital compass, thermometer, and barometer/altimeter. The MTG-S1000, GW-A1000, and GPW-1000 feature Triple G Resist which includes resistance to shock, centrifugal g shock watch gravity, and vibration. In 2014, Casio introduced the GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor feature in the GPW-1000 Gravitymaster that allows the watch to synchronize the time through GPS signals and also adjusts the time zone automatically.
Line art of Goku is cleverly integrated to create an unmistakable anime vibe. Two of Casio G-Shock‘s latest collabs are sure to please anime fans. Revealed in Japan on the same day, on June 17, are the G-Shock x Dragon Ball Z and G-Shock x One Piece GA-110-based collaborative wrist watches. These models are identical to the surfing editions, and also released in 1996. They were designed for snowboarding and skateboarding competitors and competitions.
Many of these models came equipped with a pair of strap adapters and a single one-piece resin or nylon band. These styles of band are also known as “crossband” in the Japanese domestic market. Resin bands for these models had open gaps or slits through the band. Casio refers to them as drainage slits; the idea is that water will drain out with no problems while in action when surfing. These models were branded as X-Treme for the Japanese domestic market. Casio’s G-Shock watch brand opened its One Piece collaboration timepiece for preorders on Wednesday.
The Dragon Ball Z logo is engraved on the stainless steel case back, and the watch comes in exclusive co-branded packaging. The G-Shock shock resistant watch is a line of watches manufactured by the Japanese electronics company Casio, designed to resist mechanical stress, shock and vibration. The watches in the G-Shock line are designed primarily for sports, military and outdoors-oriented activities; nearly all G-Shocks are chronographs, with either a digital display or a combination of analogue and digital. Other features such as countdown timer, world clock, alarms, electroluminescent backlight and water resistance are included in most models. Newer high-end models in the line also feature GPS, compass or radio-controlled adjustment known as Multi-Band. Similar to the Goku piece, the Luffy watch pays homage to the character with a black base and illustrations throughout the dial and wristband.
For example when the hands point to number 2 and 4, you’ll notice Luffy’s facial scar starts to appear, there’s a “Wanted” sign displayed at 3. This watch is water and shock resistant, practical and sturdy enough for outdoors use. One more thing though, since it’s a special edition watch for Japan, the instructions are also in Japanese. These models were released in g shock watch 1996, designed and specifically made for the surfing market. These models were the very first G-Shock watches to have a countdown timer. The countdown timers on these models were designed to count down for surfing competitions, some of the later models have a yacht timer, moon and tide graphs so a surfer can keep track of the progress while competing on the water.
Additionally, all of them will be released through a raffle by Isetan, The Japan Store in Lot 10 Kuala Lumpur on 14 August which means you need to be lucky enough even just to have the rights to purchase the watch. At 3 o’clock, there’s a “Z” motif and opposite at 9 o’clock is a four-star motif that references the seven magical wish-granting balls. The stainless steel case back also features the Dragon Ball Z logo. I love how monochromatic the packaging is, with its plain white text and skull & crossbones donning the iconic One Piece straw hat.
