We measured the amp draw for each saw using all three materials again at the same time we were recording RPMs. The first graph below shows the amp draw for each saw cutting plywood compared to the no-load amp draw. The white bar on the left indicates the no load amps and the colored bar on the right shows the maximum amp draw during the cut. The dewalt Hand tools first measurements we looked at with the performance testing was blade speed cutting all three of the test materials. This tests gives us a relative comparison of how much blade speed reduction the motors have under different loading conditions. Infeed/outfeed support for this saw is almost a must for anything more than an arm’s length, at least if trying to remain relatively consistent. It’s very accurate when material is properly supported, but very difficult to do with larger boards because of what was pointed out…very very little infeed capacity table support wise. I’ve had some luck with a featherboard, although it’s a bit tricky. A feather board can also be helpful; I use them at work all the time on a large cabinet saw, routers, etc.
However this applies very little force and with one finger I can move the fence back and forth through the full backlash of the pinion and rack mesh, which is about another 1/16”. #1 There is no lock for the blade height adjustment. There is little load on the height adjustment mechanism and without any way to lock it in place, the vibration of the saw causes the blade to slowly roll back down as you cut. If you’re doing rabbets, slots or miters, this is a disaster.
