Dewalt Dw735 13″ Two Speed Planer Review

A common complaint about the two lunchbox planers is that the dust collection shoot tends to clog up. The DW733 and DW734 only have one ‘normal’ feed rate. One ‘normal’ speed, for getting your work done at a reasonable speed, and one ‘slow’ speed, for finishing passes.

After playing around with the planer shortly after assembling this setup I completely eliminated snipe. Then gradually snipe returned on the infeed side of the cuts. dewalt Hand tools It wasn’t until I took pictures for this article that I realized why. To reduce snipe everyone recommends ramping up the infeed and outfeed sides of this planer.

There are two gauges on the DW735 and they are both easy to read and use. The removal gauge shown above shows how much thickness will be removed but it also offers a handy chart suggesting the maximum to remove per pass based on the width of the board. The thickness gauge shown on the right shows the total final thickness that the board will be after passing through the planer. It didn’t take me long to zero in on one particular planer and that was the DEWALT DW735.

This week I’ll give you an overview on my planer and setup and hopefully within the next week or two I’ll have something to share in regards to my table saw. I’m full time builder for a large construction company in New Hampshire. I run their design-build division that specializes in custom homes, commercial design-build projects and sub-divisions.

Have you tried to power it up after putting it completely back together. The little black thing at the top is a micro switch and is enabled by the top shroud. Once assembled, there is a tab on the top shroud that depresses the switch. @Coophas a valid point, circuit breakers don’t work forever. Just on the off chance, is your dedicated receptacle a GFCI?
