Nvidia Geforce Rtx 2080 Review
Now that we’re a couple of months into the RTX laptop era, it’s time to pause and look at how this first wave of laptops with Nvidia’s hyped-up new mobile graphics technology fares in real-world testing. Unless the tasks you are throwing at it require more than 11GB of graphics memory, it comes very close to the performance of the Titan RTX, for less than half the cost. Synthetic benchmarks don’t accurately predict how a GPU will perform in production, but they do provide a way to compare the cards on test with older models, since scores for a wide range of GPUs are available online. Unlike previous reviews, I haven’t included Cinebench here, since the last version to feature a GPU benchmark is now over six years old. The first set of applications either don’t use OptiX for ray tracing, or don’t make it possible to turn the OptiX backend on and off, so it isn’t possible to assess the impact of RTX acceleration on performance. Without any ray tracing or DLSS features, the investigation showed Shadow of the Tomb Raider to prefer the Ti at 1080p and 1440p, with clear leads for the older card.
The GeForce RTX 2080 is an enthusiast-class graphics card by NVIDIA, launched in September 2018. Built on the 12 nm process, and based on the TU104 graphics processor, in its TU A-A1 variant, the card supports DirectX 12 Ultimate. Additionally, the DirectX 12 Ultimate capability guarantees support for hardware-raytracing, variable-rate shading and more, in upcoming video games.
If you are like me, then you hate taking time out of your busy work and gaming schedule to clean up around your house. Although this device can’t fold your laundry and put it away for you, Eufy’s RoboVac 30C is a nifty little device that can help save you time by keeping your floors clean so that you don’t gtx 1090 have to. With a powerful 1,500Pa suction vacuum built in, this devices will roam your home removing any dust, hair, or misc. It is also able to connect to your home’s Wi-Fi, after which it can be controlled via your Smartphone as well as by Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Assistant voice control services.
It weighs a merger 2.79 pounds and has a battery that can last for up to 11.5 hours on a full charge. After the battery is completely drained, the system can regain up to 80 percent of its charge after charging for just one hour. The system should also be relatively quick with an Intel core i5 processor and 8GB of RAM. Right now you can get the notebook from Amazon marked down from $1,299.00 to just $899.99. As a result, Nvidia say this allows the Founders Edition of the RTX 2080 to deliver 60 trillion RTX operations/second, compared to the reference spec’s 57 trillion. That’s not to say the Founders Edition is necessarily the best RTX 2080 out there, however, as third party cards will also be offering their own factory-overclocked speeds as they become available.
In Hitman, for example, the gtx 1080 8gb breezed through Agent 47’s Paris catwalk benchmark with an average frame rate of 78fps on Ultra at 4K, and even hitting an average of 93fps on Ultra at 1440p. That’s a couple of frames ahead of the GTX 1080Ti, but highly-optimised games such as Doom and Wolfenstein II showed even greater gains. Here, the RTX 2080 was hitting up to 120fps in both shooters on max settings at 4K, while the GTX 1080Ti often maxed out around the 100fps mark. Neither of these results will be much use if you only have a 60Hz monitor, of course, but those with higher refresh rate screens may appreciate the extra leeway. Across the board, the RTX 2080 proved itself a highly capable card that’s got more than enough chops for 4K gaming on high graphics settings, as well as a very admirable partner for those after max settings at higher refresh rates further down the resolution scale.
In the V-Ray trolls scene, the Titan RTX – in which the entire scene fits into on-board memory – performs much better than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, while the GeForce RTX 2080 won’t render the scene at all. Neither the 2080 nor the 2080 Ti will render the other two scenes, crashing every time in the V-Ray architectural scene, and quitting with out-of-memory errors in the Arnold for Maya scene. The viewport benchmarks include many of the key DCC applications – both general-purpose 3D software like 3ds Max, Blender and Maya, and more specialist tools like Substance Painter – plus CAD package SolidWorks and game engine Unreal Engine. If you discount the Titan RTX, which occupies a halfway house between traditional gaming and workstation cards, it’s Nvidia’s current top-of-the-range consumer GPU.
Coupled with a very smooth power delivery system to avoid leakage, the chip is one of the most efficient GPU architecture ever designed for gamers. The display outputs for the card include 3 Display Port 1.4 (4K @ 120 Hz), 1 HDMI 2.0b (4K @ 60 Hz) and USB Type-C connector for the Virtual link which means that it is capable to support all next-gen displays with new standards. To be honest, playing $2,300 for the lowest-end new GPU in the family stings a bit, and the performance scores show just how much there is to gain with the higher-end 2080 GPUs. It’s otherwise one of my favorite gaming laptops, especially in the alternate white version we have here.
