Nvidia Geforce Rtx 2080 Specs
To test this, I ran the three high-memory usage benchmarks again in dual-GPU setups, using the Titan RTX for display purposes only, and the RTX 2080 or RTX 2080 Ti for rendering. As with the previous benchmarks, the Titan RTX takes first place in all of the tests, followed by the RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080, GTX 1080 and GTX 1070. The variation in performance is smallest with Premiere Pro, and largest with Substance Alchemist.
The display also has a high 4K resolution and a USB-C port that doubles as both a video connection and a charging port for compatible notebooks. Right now you can get this display from Dell marked down from $1,069.99 to just $799.99. When it comes to the cooler design, NVIDIA is taking a major departure from their blower styled cooler from previous reference designs and going for a strong dual fan cooling system which is said to deliver better cooling performance. The cooler comprises of dual rotatory fans that push cool air towards a large heatsink block that is made up of several aluminum fins and interconnects via heat pipe technology. The cooler has a high-performance vapor chamber underneath the hood which uses a copper base to effectively dissipate heat from the GPU and surroundings such as the VRAM.
To measure GPU memory usage during benchmarking, I used the hardware monitor in EVGA’s Precision X1 utility. What is interesting to see is how performance increases when OptiX is enabled, and the software can offload ray tracing calculations to the RT cores of the RTX cards. In Redshift, the impact is relatively small – although bear in mind that version 3.0 is still in early access – but in the V-Ray benchmark, performance increases by 33-35%, and in the Blender benchmark, by %. In the viewport and editing benchmarks, the frame rate scores represent the figures attained when manipulating the 3D assets shown, averaged over five testing sessions to eliminate inconsistencies.
We’re going to get our hooks into PC-gaming developers through lower-cost special effects that just happen to be exclusive to Nvidia cards. The catch, of course, is the future tense. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 Ti launches today in reference variants first for $799 US founders edition while the normal variants would start for $699 US. This time, NVIDIA has already given the green light to their manufacturers to announce custom cards soon after the reference launch which are now available to pre-order on the official GeForce webpage. Coming to the specifications in-detail, the Samsung 16 Gb GDDR6 memory die will be built on the 10nm process node which Samsung is calling as the most advanced memory node to date. It will double the density of their GDDR5 solution which was composed of a 20nm 8 Gb die. According to Samsung, their solution will be operating at up to 18 Gbps against a previous standard speed of 16 Gbps and that is a big deal here.
Nvidia’s new high-end graphics cards are the GeForce RTX 2070, RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti, the company announced today during a pre-Gamescom 2018 livestream from Cologne, Germany. This means that a solution based on a 384-bit interface and surrounded by 12 DRAM dies could feature up to 24 GB of VRAM while a 256-bit solution can house up to 16 GB of VRAM. While VRAM is one thing, the maximum bandwidth output on a 384-bit card can reach a blistering fast 672 GB/s while the 256-bit solution can reach a stunning 448 GB/s transfer rate on existing 14 Gbps dies which are in full production.
The results are similar in the Arnold for Maya scene, although the V-Ray architectural scene still won’t render on either GeForce card. All that said, Nvidia hasn’t increased the price of this GPU at all, so there’s not anything to officially complain about as they’re not price gouging here. It’s possible the Super card might be significantly faster on a different game that I didn’t test, but with the games I tested, there was almost no difference between the Super version and the regular version. Overall this is a very mild spec bump, especially compared to the treatment the 2070 and 2060 received. It’s a bit similar to when Nvidia released a “new” version of the GTX 1060 with faster memory, and nobody really cared about it since the performance bump was so tiny. Serving as the successor to the GeForce 10 series, the 20 series marked the introduction of Nvidia’s Turing microarchitecture, and the first generation of RTX cards, the first in the industry to implement realtime hardware ray tracing in a consumer product.
In terms of what those numbers actually mean when it comes to playing games, there’s both good news and bad news. This far into 2018, the company’s last wave of PC graphics cards still leads the market in sheer gaming performance, including March 2017’s GTX 1080 Ti . This $700-ish card remains the de facto 4K graphics solution in the consumer sector, and AMD has yet to touch it in terms of performance. In fact, its late-2017 RX Vega 64 (roughly $550) doesn’t even definitively top the older GTX 1080 (non-Ti, roughly $490). Like any piece of expensive technology, a top-of-the-line graphics card comes with all manner of lingo and abbreviation. The NVIDIA GeForce gtx 1090 is officially announced as NVIDIA’s perfect solution for gamers.
On July 2, 2019, the GeForce RTX Super line of cards was announced, which comprises higher-spec versions of the 2060, 2070 and 2080. Each of the Super models were offered for a similar price as older models but with improved specs. In July 2019, NVidia stated the “SUPER” graphics cards in the GeForce RTX 20 series, to be introduced, had a 15% performance advantage over the GeForce RTX 2060.
AMD’s highest-end Vega graphics card is getting long in the tooth after a year. It’s also worth noting that the Team Red is gearing up to unleash its AMD Navi cards, which have a couple of under $500 options.
