New example features in Turing included mesh shaders, rRay tracing cores , tensor cores, dedicated Integer cores for concurrent execution of integer, and floating point operations. In the GeForce 20 series, this real-time ray tracing is accelerated by the use of new RT cores, which are designed to process quadtrees and spherical hierarchies, and speed up collision tests with individual triangles. As for those still gaming at 2560×1440, the RTX 2080 is massive overkill no matter which way you slice it. You’ll still have great looking games at good speeds with these cards, and you needn’t bankrupt yourself in the process either.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 is, without a doubt, more expensive than its predecessor. The new GPU is a considerably better performer than the GTX 1080 with remarkably higher benchmark scores that even beat the GTX 1080 Ti and Titan Xp. The new test basically takes out all the guesswork out of maximizing the performance of your GPU, and it’s one of the unique features we love about the new Turing series. Additionally, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 introduces a new set of 46 RT Cores and 468 Tensor Cores, which play a hand in rendering real-time ray tracing and artificial intelligence-powered computations.
The cards move forward with an upgraded-but-familiar Volta architecture, with some changes to the SMs and memory. The new gtx 1090 and 2080 Ti ship with reference cards first, and partner cards largely at the same time (with some more advanced models coming 1+ month later), depending on which partner it is. The board partners did not receive pricing or even card naming until around the same time as media, so expect delays in custom solutions.
