Meet A Mud

The case is made of high-rigidity carbon material to protect against damage and deformation due to impact and other rough treatment, while metal button pipes ensure a tighter seal against the external environment. A filter further protects against the invasion of mud, for the high level of dust and mud resistance required when in severe environments. In addition, the dual back cover consists of a stainless steel panel back and an outer cover made of shock resistant fine resin embedded with glass fibers. With a name like “Mudmaster,” you know that this is a watch that isn’t afraid to get dirty. Its massive 55 mm case makes room for a ton of structural engineering that its name suggests, starting with a Carbon Core Guard structure that protects its movement and its modules with a carbon fiber reinforced resin case.

The three new GGB100 timepieces are created with an updated Carbon Core Guard Structure and triple-layered carbon-insert bezel to offer both light weight, durability and mud resistance. We’ve all heard about water resistant watches, even magnetic-resistant watches, but mud resistant? Well, apparently, some of us need that mud resistance and the newest line up of Casio G-Shock Mudmaster watches are finally in stores now to deliver mud resistance. Having gone off roading in a lifted truck a couple of times,I can see where mud resistance could definitely come into play.

Around the outer edge of the dial, it has abbreviations of cities for the world timer. Starting off, this is a watch that is built to be ”extra everything”. It has a design that stands out of the ordinary, and equally so a ruggedness and performance that makes it one of the toughest watches on the market. Naturally, since it is all about performance, it is also packed with a bunch of functions and features.

Previous “Triple Sensor” watches had a compass, thermometer, and pressure sensors, which are used for barometer and altimeter readings. The fourth sensor in the Mudmaster’s “Quad Sensor” is an accelerometer which senses the acceleration of gravity the same way smartphones are able to detect directions, tilts, vibrations, etc. This is used in the Mudmaster to offer a step counter which can then share data with a smartphone via a bluetooth connection (activated by the button at 3 o’clock).

Because of its size, it’s not the most comfortable, but it does the job for what it’s meant to do. Thanks to its rugged construction, you won’t have to worry about whether or not it will hold up. im just wondering why JF versions command more of a pricepoint then its counterparts even g shock watch though those are also made in japan (correct?). anyways thanks again great point on the estimated battery life. I don’t have any official figures, but I would guess it’s the GWG A3 or GWG A1. Some parts like the screws, buttons, and band keeper may be ion plated on some models.

This is a crucial feature for this type of watch that ensures perfect legibility at all times, even in complete darkness. A clever function that Casio has incorporated is that if you press the light button and the lower-left button, the hands move out of the way for the screen so you can read it properly in case they are in the way. The resin is raised for the bezel in order to keep the screen protected, and both sides have ”bumpers” in order to increase its resistance to shocks, but also keep the crown and triple sensor protected. Casio has constructed the case from a plastic material and on top sits a sapphire crystal.

This shock-resistant carbon core guard protects the watch’s vitals to assure proper function regardless of terrain or weather conditions. Using carbon for the watch’s core saves weight and adds strength, as it has a tensile strength ten times that of iron and yet weighs far less. The carbon case also allowed Casio designers to develop a new structure of shock-resistant button.

There are some cases where they do not charge much of a premium. The GWG-1000GB-1A adds a luxurious touch to the Mudmaster’s appearance by using a gold color for the ring dial, buttons, buckle, and band keeper. This model will also be released in the USA as the GWG1000GB-1A.

I’m a carpenter so I’ve gone through a lot of watches from the impact of swinging a hammer or the vibration from running a sawzall would vibrate the hands right off most of the competetors watches. The LED could of been a little bit brighter otherwise I’ve been really happy with this watch. Casio has provided all the information on the dial itself, making it easy to access the watch features without any struggle. And despite its shock-proof tough armor and enormous footprint on wrist, GWD-1000 feels unbelievably light.

This is due to the Resin casing, which is extremely light and durable at the same time. Nearing the end of the conversation I asked him if he still wears the watch to his rides. He gritted his teeth in one of those uncomfortable smiles and says that technology has caught up to his needs.
