A traditional man, a loyal man, a good father and a loving husband. I am wearing it today for the first time after almost 4 months and what an awesome fragrance! I am not sure if it is my imagination polo dress shirts but it smells much more pleasant that what it did in December. It could be that the contents had to settle or mature in the bottle as is the case with my Aventus and other fragrances.
But it suits an older man best I think, so not quite for me yet. I have always perceived my grandpa as very classy. This is deffo not an everyday perfume. To me it’s a special occasional one. You wear it if you want to celebrate something.
When it dries down I detect notes of ashy-smoke and leather, with the pine needles becoming part of the background. The top and middle have a somewhat dry chypre vibe. It’s a bit dirty at this point but that’s part of its appeal and what gives it character.
Not if you can’t pull off wearing this masculine beast of a fragrance. Macho scent but also classy, in the same category as Aramis in that sense. Will be appreciated by people with classic tastes. it is very classy , slightly offensive but it makes you feel that you are very rich because of the tobacco notes. I like it soo much .It is one of the top 5 of more than 200+ perfumes I have smelled.
Absolutely still Full Bottle worthy. There are more than enough reviews here covering the way it smells, so I won’t go into that, except to say that this smells fantastic. Another old-school powerhouse I am very glad to have added to my growing collection.
I own two formulas – a bottle from 1997 and a bottle from 2014. The so called “vintage” is heavier on leather and has much darker pine note. The newer one is focused on the cigarette “ash” and polo dress shirts has a lighter green pine note . It opens up green but definitely it’s dark green and ashy. Soon the tobacco joins – I’ve heard some saying it smells like a cigarette ash tray – I don’t mind.
