This small inflatable craft is manufactured from a 1100 Decitex PVC material. So far, it’s similar to many other products on the market, however, there are some significant differences. For example, the Zoom 230 comes equipped with a slatted hull, which increases rigidity and overall stability, making for a safer, confidence-inspiring intex frame pool ride. Designed for easy transportation, the Zoom 230 can easily be packed down into your trunk, or attached to the roof of your car when fully assembled. Though it’s most commonly used as a tender, this nimble and stable boat can be used for leisurely trips on the lake, or for exploring coastal bays.
An outboard motor like a trolling motor or 2 HP gas motor will work. You can attach any electric trolling motor, or a gasoline power up to 2 HP. Attaching a motor which is too strong will damage the boat.
Either that or check out a smaller boat such as the Intex Excursion 4. The Excursion 5 excels on nice, calm summer days out on the lake. It’s great for large families or fishermen who have tons of gear to bring. You can easily row it on calmer rivers as well if the current isn’t too strong and it’s very comfortable to relax in. We would strongly recommend trying to take your Excursion 5 out in the waves, as the underside of the body is far too soft. This means every wave will be felt instead of being cut through.
As far as performance goes, you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that the Intex Excursion 5 is not so competitive. Indeed, this boat was designed with an image of a relaxing family / group of friends in a calm setting and that makes it useless for extreme sports lovers or competitive people. Like any boat out there, the Intex Excursion 5 comes with 2 oar holders for easier motion and better paddling. Thus, you don’t have to struggle in order to keep the oars in place as you go and that’s already a huge advantage. In fact, the Intex Excursion 5 is made of powerful vinyl and that takes durability up a notch since it is a high-grade material known for its rigidity and durability.
The large, roomy cockpit has plenty of room for fishing tackle as well as coolers, bait containers and anything else you will need for a relaxing day of fishing with your buddies. A word of caution, the 1.5 HP maximum is truly the maximum, anything larger will cause the boat to bend due to stress. The I-beam construction is sturdy and stable, but it can only handle so much thrust before it will start to curl. If you keep the motor at or below 1.5 HP, you will have no problems and it is less work than paddling. The Intex Excursion 5 boat comes with everything you need to get out and enjoy the water.
Electronically welded seams ensure that there will be no leak. Angler Bay is made specifically lightweight and portable, perfect for passive water recreations, such as trips on a calm stream or freshwater intex purespa fishing. Swiveling oar locks, grab lines, mounts for trolling motors and side mounted oar holders are among its noteworthy features. Consumers love its well-made built and secure three-air chambers.
If you put a motor on the boat, it probably needs to be registered. You will need to contact Intex to get a Certificate of Origin for your boat as well. The Excursion 4 has 2 seats, while the Excursion 5 has an inflatable middle row seat. If you have a hard floor, you can build boxes to store your supplies in. A canopy can easily be fastened to the boat and will do a good job of offering protection from elements like harmful UV rays, or even downpours that catch you unprepared.
Hopefully we will get a few years out of it considering the price. Large enough for 5 adults but would not recommend that many. I ran it over with my truck while still in the package there was no damage. In the second review video, the reviewer says that the is Intex’s largest and most comfortable boat it has ever built. It is supplied with two 54-inch oars to move the boat with about 4 to 5 feet of travel. You can put the oars at the front oar holders or the back oar holders.
