Dewalt Dw735 Review

In your review you stated that some have problems with the rollers not working all the time but you didn’t have that problem. I us-ta have that problem with mine, then I bought a joiner and it fixed it and now I no longer have that issue. The board is completely square now when it comes out. I have had my planer for over 4 years now, and used it on some very hard wood, recently I ran a little hickory threw it, but mostly I run maple and cherry threw it. I have ran about 1000 board ft over all I believe, so for the home shop, or hobbyist like myself these are awesome units. Those who need to do this sort of thing for a living should buy products specifically for making a living.

What you should know though is that the Dewalt DW735 and the Dewalt DW735X are basically the same thickness planer. Necessary cookies are absolutely essential for the website to function properly. We ran several dewalt Hand tools different species of hardwoods through including ash, reclaimed oak, and mahogany. The planer worked remarkably well and at 15 amps, it had plenty of power to pull through and plane each hardwood without any hesitation. We planed nearly 70ft of 2-inch mahogany to 1-1/2 inch without overloading the system at all.

The 96 CPI setting will cut through the wood faster, but it will also leave a rougher surface. Conversely, the 179 CPI setting will leave the surface smoother, but it will take longer to plane. This thickness planer will allow you to select between dewalt accessories 96 Cuts Per Inch and 179 CPI. It should be adequate for home woodshops or construction sites. That will cut through all but the hardest woods with minimal bogging. I am not aware of any wood species that a 15-amp motor would struggle with.

If you do not need the 13-inch capacity of the DW735X, this might be a good selection. It offers 12.5-inches of material width capacity, which is close to the larger design. Adjusting the speed provides you with more versatility in the shop.

The Interna-Lok head clamp holds the workpiece in place better than standard rollers, minimizing snipe. Though the 2012NB doesn’t have a built-in dust collection port, you can buy an attachment separately. The best benchtop planers have dust ports that attach to a shop vacuum or dust collection system to minimize the mess.

Massive snipe 3″ on each side. I tried everything but it is always there. I have the extension tables and still get snipe. Christmastime is one of those perfect times dewalt accessories of the year to make someone a special handmade gift. So I took to the shop after Thanksgiving, stepping away from my lathe and decided to do something different.

Infinity Tools replacement knives for your DeWalt DW735 planer are the finest you can purchase. Since our knives are thicker than the original ones that came with the machine, our steel can lasts up to 4x longer – even in tough or abrasive materials. This type of steel’s extreme resistance to abrasion and wear make it the ideal material for woodworking. So far, just put in a new set and used the machine now and then. My usage is lighter duty and infrequent, so that has worked. I’m very likely to replace the whole cutter head with a helical, carbide insert populated head if I get to using it enough to be frustrated by the current blades.

Spending the majority of his adult life as an accomplished photographer, Matt now owns and operates Kent Made LLC with his father, Richard. Specializing in custom stair installations and fine trim carpentry, Matt spends most of his time either in front of a saw blade or behind a finish nail gun. With any planer, one hopes for a powerful, accurate machine. At 92lbs, we’re not sure we would lug it around to a project site, but it’s a welcome addition in the shop. Regardless of your planer’s horsepower rating, be sure to choose one with a 15-amp motor.

What we do takes so much time as it is, no one pays us to do this, we do it with volunteers and samples. Wish we could offer more, but it’s just not feasible. Did you test whether the planers, especially the 735x can actually handle the full widths they claim? Can you actually put 13″ work through the 735x without it bogging down or, put another way, how thick can the cut be at 13″ without bogging down too much? That would be an excellent test, especially since I think you were starting to see the effect of width with the poplar.

It is the favorite planer for most professionals because of its minimal snipe aided by the powerful manual lockdown mechanism. This planer uses disposable blades 12.5 inches in size and also allows a greater depth up to six inches which allows it to handle a wider variety of lumbar size. Occasionally we’ll have the need to plane several boards to the same thickness. In most cases, the rough cut lumber we receive from the lumber yard varies in size.
