Dewalt Dw735 13 In Two
DEWALT makes lots of great tools and I seldom find issues with any of them. In this situation they have an AMAZING tool with the DW735 Thickness Planer. In fact, I would say it’s one of the best overall performing tools that I’ve ever reviewed. I also have the DW7350 – Mobile Thickness Planer Stand. The stand is also built from high quality materials and rivals any of the mobile stands I own. In fact, if you’re going to put this on a stand I recommend you buy the DEWALT version compared to an after-market version.
My advice, you can run a 1×2 through on each side, at the same time, to truly see paralleladiggity to the platen. Further yet, run each side, one at a time dewalt tools and compare rigidity of the cutterhead and accuracy. The wood samples we used in this test were 1×4 Mahogany decking, 1 x 8 Poplar, 1×6 Oak and 1×6 Maple.
Make sure, as in the micro switch controlled by the top shroud, that each is in it’s normally assembled position. @BryanFaz, a few of us are electrically educated types. If you can post a picture that shows the front of your meter, we might provide instructions on how to set it and use it. I am assuming you were working with the machine unplugged, with the meter set to the “Ohms” or resistance measuring function. Wow it has been a long time since we did a planer review.
But then you mention the bit about the third party making blades for a planer. But it isn’t clear to me if they are making blades for a Delta or a DeWalt. Hoping dewalt tools to be able to successfully sharpen the blades on our Dewalt 735 Planer. We love this planer, but go through blades fast and they are pricey to replace.
Both planers use three blades and have multiple speed settings. The 735s also use 13inch blades instead of the 12.5 offered by 734 which gives you an advantage when handling a larger piece of timber. DeWalt 734,735 and 735Xare the three main benchtop planers from DeWalt.
When a proper planer is $3000 you shouldn’t cry about a $500 cheap planer. It will be a long time before you purchase enough dewalt accessories blades to make up the difference. I would say you gave it a fair review in your eyes, and that is a good thing.
It’s intended to keep pressure of the board to the rollers and reduce snipe. You might check to see if that’s correct as it’s likely true for the 735x as well. We tested how much material would be ‘lost’ to snipe. We had already adjusted each planer’s tables to be flat, and level to the planer bed, prior to the snipe test. We wanted to know how each machine performed at maximum loads .
