Mudmaster

During my usage, I did not struggle to read the information on dial, however the intensity of the light is quite low. It is not even able to light up half of the dial, which is a bit low-down. G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-1000 comes equipped with triple sensor mechanism including Digital compass, Barometric pressure/Altitude and Temperature readings. It provides instant access to direction you are heading, barometric pressure, and temperature readings of the current environment around you. In the middle of all this analog-digital watchmaking, one watchmaker is still holding its traditional roots and has come out with yet another product, defining company’s conventional watch line-up.

This isn’t out of character for a G-Shock, but the Tough Solar tech does show up in G-Shocks at this price range. However, it’s left out of a watch that is marketed to spend its life outside and will force you to change them roughly every 2 years. Like g shock protection most G-Shocks, the Mudmaster comes will all the standard features, a stopwatch feature, 5 alarms (with snooze!) and 31 world times. Maybe even the extreme sports guys wouldn’t use these features, but they’re there and fun to use in daily life.

We are talking about Casio, known for its rugged G-Shock watch line-up. The funny thing about this watch, is that Casio doesn’t advertise the temperature selection on its wheel of functions. In fact, you probably wouldn’t know it even read the temperature if you didn’t read the instructions. The watch has not one, but two batteries, and neither of them are solar.

In addition, the timepiece’s Quad sensors- compass, thermometer, altimeter/barometer, and step tracker – further enhance its capabilities. The face of the watch is marked with large Arabian numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock for easy reading. The face is illuminated by a Super Illumination, high-brightness auto LED light to ensure high visibility under virtually any conditions imaginable.

What I found to be somewhat frustrating is the fact that the alarm has no snooze option. This is a pretty minor thing compared to other more important features that the Sky Cockpit did get right but I thought it is important to highlight it. Remember that this is a very appreciated watch that has been bought by thousands of people worldwide and until now it seems that most of them have good words about it. Although it’s great in most situations it has a drawback that I find to be frustrating.

Legibility was one of my key choices and many of the G-Shocks are not that great to tell the time with so the choices were soon narrowed down. The khaki strap, hands and orange subdial appealed to me straight off. I would have prefered orange numbers or hands but they didn’t offer it.
