The big dial can be a bit irritating if you are buying a G-Shock for the first time, but for loyal G-Shock users, the watch will feel like home. A look at GWD will immediately tell you that it is indeed built up with high quality material and you would love to sport it on your wrist. As I sat at a table with my friend and his watch in hand, I couldn’t help but fixate on the size of the case. The Mudmaster GG A5 definitely has a wrist presence and dwarfs almost all of the common G-Shocks that I’ve ever seen.

Eventually, I managed to get this model (GG A5) just before it vanished from production. However, while you might think that anything that keeps out water would easily be able to prevent mud ingress as well, the small particles in mud and dust present challenges of their own. These “mud-resistant” watches use a special “filter” behind the buttons and a steel case back covered by a layer of plastic resin.

The Aviation line tends to have a more traditional design as Casio decided to use analog hands, but I consider this a plus in terms of better g shock protection readability in harsh environments. The display is complex yet clear enough to read in most conditions, and the backlight is a surprisingly bright violet color that will make everything clear even underwater. The MudMaster is a colossus even if you compare it with other top G-Shocks. You can actually be carefree if this watch falls into water or hits steel doors, or table/wall corners.
