Nvidia Rtx 2070 Super Review

AMD’s price cut was brilliantly timed to react to Nvidia’s Super cards, and the performance promises match up. If you’re looking at spending $400 on a new graphics card, then you now have two great choices (or a $499 RTX 2070 Super option if you’re willing to spend a little more to get even better performance). AMD does offer Radeon Image Sharpening to upscale games without big frame rate penalties and Radeon Anti-Lag to improve competitive games, but neither comes close to the impact real-time ray tracing has on a gaming experience. I’ve found Battlefield V is one of the good examples of ray tracing effects, thanks to the reflections on objects and guns, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider uses ray tracing in a number of shadowy scenes.

rtx 2070

Agreed that we need Intel in the hunt, for some 3 way consumer action. The 2070 was more of a 1080 successor, while the 2060 was more of a 1070 successor, even if the performance gains weren’t exactly gtx 1090 all that compelling. The process node was only a slight improvement over what the 10-series was built on, so not getting big performance improvements at a given price level could probably be expected.

We always like to mention a smaller form card for those out there looking to build a compact gaming rig and for us the Gigabyte is definitely up there in terms of performance, size and cooling for a really quality built Mini ITX GPU. Zotac is becoming more potent in the hardware universe thanks to the quality of the products they turn out year in year out. Their aftermarket version of the 2070 is really impressive, it’s been equipped with a newly designed heat sink and triple-fan cooling system which was up there with the best in the range. This is MSI’s first entry into the best of 2070 guide and for good reason. The Gaming Z doesn’t just look impressive, the newly designed heat sink and fan setup they have equipped this card with incredible thermal performance.

In a card designed for 1440p monitors, it’s nice to have for future-proofing, but it’s totally unnecessary. Fortunately, it is backwards compatible with PCIe 3.0, so you can still use the 5700 cards with existing motherboards and CPUs. Turing GPUs are designed for hardware that supports USB Type-C™ and VirtualLink™. VirtualLink™ is a new open industry standard developed to meet the power, display and bandwidth requirements of a new generation of VR headsets connected via a single USB Type-C™ connector.

But, at the moment, there are probably better options out there for your money. We felt that itdid make sense to include on this list, though, because if the standard RTX 2070s were to drop in price, this would be a good option to watch. MSI’s ARMOR edition cards usually sit in the bottom price range of a GPU series and so if there is a price drop, there’s a good chance that this one could come down to a much more reasonable level. However, the MSI Gaming Trio comes in at just under $540, making ~$40 more expensive than both the Gigabyte RTX 2070 SUPER Windforce OC and the Zotac RTX 2070 SUPER Twin fan. And, since it doesn’t have a higher factory clock speed than either of those options and its cooling configuration is on par with the Windforce OC, the $40 difference you’re paying is really for the RGB lights. While the ZOTAC RTX 2070 Mini is the cheapest RTX 2070 on the market, ZOTAC’s RTX 2070 SUPER Mini is probably the best option if you’re looking to build a powerful mini-ITX gaming PC.

So, we come to the end of our best gtx 1090 of 2021 and to our surprise they all performed incredibly well under stress tests and FPS benchmarks. When looking for a 2070 it really all boils down to which one you feel has the best design and how efficient the heat sink and cooling system is. Of course if you’re into overclocking then the heat sink is a vital piece of your GPU makeup and hopefully, in the above we have outlined which ones are most effective for that matter.

Destiny 2 was the only game that really gave us any trouble, but frame rates remained in a playable 40 to 70 fps range. In comparison to the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti and GTX 1080, Nvidia’s new mid-range graphics card has a lower stream processor and texture unit count. Much like the other Nvidia Turing graphics cards, the Nvidia RTX 2070 is much more expensive than the GTX 1070.

It’s the ideal option if you need higher framerates for a 120Hz or 144Hz gaming monitor. It’s time for RTX 2060 to finally show why it’s a worthy contender for your next GPU. At $349, it’s significantly cheaper than gtx 1090, which goes for $499. With a simple eye test, we can tell that the rough 10% difference is noticeable, but that it also depends on the game. It was somewhat expected that RTX 2060 would perform better in those types of games, but it’s also interesting that RTX 2070 doesn’t increase its performance there either.
