It’s quiet and looks fantastic, and runs below 80 degrees during games. However, my unit has coil whine, but it’s not noticeable when wearing headphones. While the promised rtx seems to be out of reach for this rtx model, it still constantly performs better then 1080 with equal or cheaper price.

Agreed that we need Intel in the hunt, for some 3 way consumer action. The 2070 was more of a 1080 successor, while the 2060 was more of a 1070 successor, even if the performance gains weren’t exactly all that compelling. The process node was only a slight improvement over what the 10-series was built on, so not getting big performance improvements at a given price level could probably be expected.

On the other hand, RTX 2070 had a clear advantage in the spec section and it simply outperforms its opponent in the gaming performance department as well. Games that have implemented DLSS version 2.0 provide a significant increase in performance while maintaining image quality. In fact, some games even manage to improve image quality with DLSS enabled. At first, it might seem like a no-brainer to go with the RTX 2070 simply because the model number is bigger. Also, if you dig a little bit deeper and notice the price gap, that might even further assure you to get that GPU.
Where RTX 2070 shows more of its shine is in the number of ROPs and in the number of ray tracing cores. Both of these are directly responsible for a better output, and when all of these little benefits are put together, there’s a clear advantage. However, things are harder to miss at the number of texture mapping units. Although RTX 2070 comes off stronger, it’s very important to note that even their score of 144 is not on the level of many other cards in the same price range. RTX 2060 ranks the lowest in this category in their tier in our GPU hierarchy and is a lot closer to the tier below. I’ve found Battlefield V is one of the good examples of ray tracing effects, thanks to the reflections on objects and guns, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider uses ray tracing in a number of shadowy scenes.
