What perhaps doesn’t come as a surprise is that this watch is extremely light, weighing a mere 51 grams/1.8 ounces including the strap. This makes it one of the lightest G-Shocks on the market today. The watch carries all the features that have made the G-shock so popular but is presented in a fresh and modern design.
As I mentioned previously, the time may be difficult to read at night using the analog hands, but the digital display solves this problem. A small light can be activated that perfectly illuminates the digital display and provides enough light to adequately read the time using the handset. Another day, another Casioak, and back to the jelly goodness of the GA-2100SKE-7AER. It’s remarkable how these references, while identical, change personality with both context and activity, and what better sports watch than a G-Shock if, like me, you don’t fancy a huge Garmin.
The case made from a robust resin material and reinforced with carbon fiber engulfs the analog-digital dial and gives the entire contraption the G-Shock level toughness. The watch is powered with a battery having a capacity of, of battery life! Firstly the watch has a very hard casing and is highly shock-resistant due to its core guard structure. The Dial is protected with mineral glass, with 200M water resistance which is good enough for a regular G-shock. There are other functions like the 31 countries’ timezone, with an accuracy of (+-)15 seconds of time accuracy. the only point that got me mesmerized was that in such a thin how could anyone add so many functions?
Though Casio have developed premium lines for their other models, you could always count on the affordability of their general releases. But little by little Casio are leveling up their watches, giving even their most modest models upgrades in all the right places. The new analog-digital GA-2100 does just that and more with Casio’s rock-solid new case technology, while also sporting a retro-inspired design that fits right at home on a modern watch. Hands move away automatically from obstructing view of digital display. So good to see Casio putting a stop to the recent insanity of big, BIGGER, AND EVEN BIGGER!!!
The battery supplies the watch with sufficient energy for approx. Every watch available in Watchard is original, has a manufacturer’s or Polish distributor’s warranty, original packaging and instructions. Each watch can be returned for free by courier for 100 days from the moment of purchase.
The trip to town turned into a mini watch meetup where TheTickTockCollector, HalfWatchTuesday co-creator Jumping Jalapeno and WatchDeclan were assembled in Mappin and Webb. After playing with some high end pieces we set off to see Simon and cross baby g shock his palm with silver. When the black version of the 2100 came out of its box, Omair who had already ordered his elsewhere online, turned into a giddy school kid and bought another one there and then so he didn’t miss out on those new watch feels.
The GA-2100, on the other hand, with its octagonal shape, is easy and comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time. The reason for this, I think, is that the top and bottom of the watch are significantly more narrow than the wide middle section. The watch feels small at the most sensitive parts of the wrist, but expands baby g shock in its mid-section. It’s similar to wearing an oval watch, like a Patek Philippe Ellipse. Part of this is an illusion – the strap starts tapering almost immediately, making the horizon of the north and south poles of the GA-2100 disappear along with it. Still, that optical effect has a real impact on the wearing experience.

I’ve been wearing it non-stop since I got it and have got many compliments. The GA A-1 doesn’t ask you for much and it returns more than you’ve put in. It does have its flaws, of course, legibility being chief among them–but it does what it needs to do with a bit of flair and personality.
Zipping past looking over the new Seiko 5 range Simon had just landed plus a visit to pick up a repaired Tudor and it was off home to play with the new toy. The GA2100-1a1 appeared on the gram and elsewhere online and the case g shock watch shape and dial just grabbed me. It looks like a stealth Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, possible a carbon off shore even. Blacked out with darkened lume, inverted LCD and that tell tale octagon bezel, it just looked stunning.
Thoughts change though and last year I spotted the release of the 35th anniversary Red Out limited editions but as with most things G related they were all sound out. It was by pure chance while wandering Schiphol airport in Amsterdam that I happened across one lonely G-Shock DW-6935C sitting in a shop display and immediately pounced. In addition to being one of the slimmest G-Shocks, the GA-2100 is also the lightest, weighing just 51 grams. Distinctive from most analog watches out there, this G-Shock model eliminates the crown – when the time is digitally adjusted with the onboard pushers, the hands auto-adjust precisely. I personally love the design, G-Shock has surprised with it’s a sharp and sleek design, after all, it is similar to the historical ‘Royal Oak’. But it is very important to understand in the matter of ‘Tech’ no one can beat the ‘Japanese Technology’ and in no space, they have given so many functions.
