Rtx 2070 Super
It’s the ideal option if you need higher framerates for a 120Hz or 144Hz gaming monitor. It’s time for RTX 2060 to finally show why it’s a worthy contender for your next GPU. At $349, it’s significantly cheaper than RTX 2070, which goes for $499. With a simple eye test, we can tell that the rough 10% difference is noticeable, but that it also depends on the game. It was somewhat expected that RTX 2060 would perform better in those types of games, but it’s also interesting that RTX 2070 doesn’t increase its performance there either.
All that extra hardware demands more power, with the reference gtx 1080 8gb requiring 25 more watts than its predecessor, and the Founders Edition demanding 10 more than that, at 185W. That power flows to the Founders Edition via a single eight-pin connector at the very end of card, rather than the usual edge placement. I usually loathe that configuration, but it works here, mostly because the Nvidia RTX 2070 Founders Edition is so tiny.
Both the RTX 2060 Super and gtx 1090 Super look physically the same as their predecessors, though, which means they’re very well-built and look great. A tough back plate helps to strengthen the graphics card and to provide more reliable structural stability. I paid $799 for my 1080ti and quite a few people said THAT was a high price.
We also tested the real-time ray tracing in Battlefield V under all 3 different resolutions at high settings and 4k was almost unplayable. However, reverting to a lower resolution compensated for the lack of power and allowed for fairly decent gameplay. When we select the best components in our build guides, we like to see what they can handle first. Whether or not we’re looking at graphics cards, monitors or CPUs, this isn’t an easy task.
Get the most out of your MSI graphics card in terms of performance and experience almost unlimited customization options with the included software. The latter I can disclose the performance of on Sunday 7th July and as real-world tests are what counts, I would suggest waiting till then to make your decisions if you’re in the market for a new graphics card. In short, though, the RTX 2070 Super is a great buy, and even better if you’ll be dabbling in DLSS and ray-tracing. Joking and lack of sleep aside, there’s a simple reason why they’re here, though, and that’s AMD’s Navi graphics cards. AMD has been fairly focussed in its pitches about the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT’s performance, taking aim at the RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 respectively.
I’m genuinely impressed by how well both of these new AMD cards perform in 1440p gaming. In Far Cry 5, frame rates regularly exceeded 90 fps on max settings, and the 5700 XT outperformed Nvidia’s gtx 1080 8gb RTX 2060 Super and came close to the higher-priced 2070 Super in most of my tests. However, I did find that frame rates between the AMD and Nvidia cards can vary a lot depending on the game.

It’s a challenge that AMD has pulled off on the performance side in the midrange. Now, it has to look beyond the sub-$400 price points and get a lot more competitive at the higher end of the market to make things truly interesting. All told, NVIDIA’s plan is to have a technological and power efficiency advantage over AMD’s cards, and if AMD’s performance estimates are accurate, then to meet or beat them on value as well. In particular, AMD is not bringing any new graphics features to the table that can match Turing’s more advanced features such as ray tracing and variable rate shading, so expect to see NVIDIA continue to wield that against AMD. The Zotac, for anyone wondering, just missed out the top all rounder spot but is still considered one of the best RTX 2070’s available to date.
