Honestly it reminds me of a smoky single malt scotch with a medicinal aura about it. Use it sparingly and the colder outside the better. Any alternate option for polo green ? I really love this fragrance but performance for me is disappointing, I currently have 2018 batch . Very similar to Paco Rabanne pour homme but it lasts much longer and doesn’t have that gross soapy opening pour homme does. I wear this a few times a month but with the current formulation I can get 12 hours out of this.
This is the most ubiquitous fragrances on older men in America, especially the South. Much like my elders, I respect it, but I’d rather spend my time and money on any other piece of my collection. This is one of the few fragrances that I can smell in public and undoubtedly know exactly what the man is wearing. I prefer this oldie more then the new popular fragrences of today. It’s a classic and it’s for a real man not a teeny weeny. If you want to smell like a real man wear this and if you don’t want to smell like a man wear what’s available today.
Coudn’t do it as a kid smelling this and can’t do it now. The opening is very, very strong and a little offensive, but it does dry down into something decent. Now, I’m willing to endure a bit, just a bit, of a stinky opening for a good middle and closing act. For me, it’s difficult to separate the Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt emotional connection and memories associated with this scent from the actual fragrance. Polo is a deep, heavy scent; it’s a well-balanced blend of greens, herbs, spice, and leather. It can be overpowering if applied to heavily, but used in moderation it’s simply a great all-purpose fragrance.
I get mainly artemisia and pine, oakmoss and vetiver, tobacco, rugged old school leather accord , just the right amount of sweetness in the background. Of course, it still has that boozy classic men’s cologne smell that is far from clean by modern standards. At the same time, it has more depth than I would have imagined.
Today it is tough to find a fragrance today that will actually last the whole day. There’s nothing that compares to this 80s powerhouse. And this will last all day into the next day. The sillage ralph lauren t shirt and longevity of this beast are the best that I have. Herbal tobacco with some leather and a some fresh fruitiness. I normally don´t like leather, but it´s not too much in this one.
This is a staple fragrance, and I’m happy to own it once again. First thing that hit me was a blast of tobacco; not the fresh kind, but resinous, dried tobacco. Took me right back to my grandmother’s house, sitting next to her while she smoked. (Though Polo itself is not smoky.) Amazing what scents can do to your memories. Once it dried down, it turned into a mix of black pepper and a freshly mowed lawn.
