In daylight the dial reflects light from different facets of the multilayer structure, while at night things get a little harder to read. The shapes along the way play with whatever light managed to enter the watch and again just looks amazing. Starting with the bezel and we’re off to the best possible start. The octagon is a classic shape that works so well on a watch.
I admit it is no match to the G-Shock ‘origin’ (GMW-B5000) but still it is classy and powerful. It gives a good feel on hands, and g shock watch not like the other G-shock’s that feel bulky on hands. The strap is really of high-quality rubber and it gives a premium look.
The GA2000HC-3A comes with an orange bezel and green band while the GA2000HC-7A has a translucent bezel with a blue case and white band. And the recent GA-2000 has some models with skeletonized hands and others with standard hands. i have many many memory with many watches, but the only one that is worthy is my all time favorite – the Tudor Submariner 79090. Looks like a standard 16mm G-Shock lug with quick release feature. So what are my thoughts after a few days of ownership and wearing.
The new GA-2100, also known as CasiOak due to the case’s that resembles an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, breaks away from the square-shaped case. While the G-Shocks have been analog before, the GA-2100 presents the handset front and center, consistently overtaking the digital display and g shock watch giving the watch a familiarity that mechanical watch collectors will love. The strap features a quick-release mechanism which I have not seen on a G-Shock before. It makes one wonder if Casio will be offering alternate straps for the CasiOak. The second, and larger problem, is that the screen is virtually impossible to read without the backlight, unless the dial happens to be completely bathed in direct sunlight. This watch can be had for $100 from a certain large online retailer. It has an octagonal case shape, not unlike a certain Holy Trinity brand’s famed sports watch, and it’s bright red. If you wear this watch out in a public place, someone is going to comment on the fact that it’s red. You’ll notice people’s eyes gazing at it awkwardly, probably assuming it’s a new smart watch, or maybe assuming that you’re Meek Mill. For me, this is the appeal of my bright red G-Shock GA-2100.
Tastes will obviously differ, but there’s something fun and vibrant about the red that doesn’t come through in the black. The use of the Carbon Core Guard structure allows the GA-2100 to be the slimmest G-Shock of all current models. The height and width of the watch is considered mid-size, rather than the large size of most analog G-Shock watches, and the watch wears very light and comfortably. The GA-2100 is currently the lightest analog-digital G-Shock model at 51 grams.
