Other than that though each and every perspective, the 2100A has impressed me a lot and I hope you too would be impressed. Lume the hour markers as well as the hands or make the LED cast better light across the hands too. The full watch and strap is matt black or dark grey depending on the light hitting it.
The GA-2100SU-A1JF is my favorite variation with a screen-printed camouflage pattern on top of the bezel. The Casio G-Shock has historically been a watch that I haven’t been able to connect with. Every G-Shock was polarizing on opposite ends of the spectrum to me. They seemed to be something designed for an operator training course or designed to match a retro pair of Jordan 4s that I’m not interested in. But this G-Shock also has a host of features that tap into broader notions of good taste that prevail within the watch world.
If you plan on, using the actual functions of the watch like the timer or stopwatch you could be waiting a while to get going. And what’s more, it’s still very much an analog piece in that it features a traditional dial layout. Casio, king of digital timekeeping, is still fighting the good fight when it comes to keeping analog alive with the GA A-1. There is a digital display on the southeast quadrant of the dial, and that’s where you can cycle through all the aforementioned functions.
Last year the all black model – an unlimited, in-production piece – was trading above RRP on the grey market after shops sold out. All the functions can take a bit of time to get used to, but they are otherwise quite straightforward. A clever feature that this watch has is an anti-block function that makes the hands change their position when you press the light mod. This is so you can read the digital screen even if the time is such that the analog hands block it. Not a small watch by any means, but it’s also significantly smaller than many popular G-Shocks, which measure closer to 50mm and have unusual geometry that can make them a tough wear.
The GA2000HC-3A comes with an orange bezel and green band while the GA2000HC-7A has a translucent bezel with a blue case and white band. And the recent GA-2000 has some models with skeletonized hands and others with standard hands. i have many many memory with many watches, but the only one that is worthy is my all time favorite – the Tudor Submariner 79090. Looks like a standard 16mm G-Shock lug with quick release feature. So what are my thoughts after a few days of ownership and wearing.
In daylight the dial reflects light from different facets of the multilayer structure, while at night things get a little harder to read. The shapes along the way play with whatever light managed to enter the watch and again just looks amazing. Starting with the bezel and we’re off to the best possible start. The octagon is a classic shape that works so well on a watch.
