We went from masculine 80s frags to sweet feminine fragrances that people call manly, to me, oddly enough, making me thing if cognitive dissonance. Think of it this way, would most people call the smell of a rose, masculine? Any honest person would of course say no. Polo green like old spice, it makes a man smell like a man.
Nothing to add but this is the epitome of masculine men’s fragrance. Redolent of pine trees and stale cigarette polo dress shirts butts. A sharp, bitter synthetic “green” fragrance that’s more dated than Burt Reynolds’ mustache.
Longevity is weak to moderate and sillage good for an hour. Then it becomes a very nice skinscent w/ soft projection. Need to reapply 4-5 times through the day. It’s also a quite aggressive scent so if someone around you doesn’t like it you’re very likely to annoy people wearing this. It’s not outdated in the sense that an older person (I’m 32) could wear it better.
There will be the occasional person who finds this appealing as you wear it but don’t count on most people to like it. I have decided this will be my signature scent when I get into my late 40’s. I have great love for Polo and it will remain in my collection for life.
Honestly it reminds me of a smoky single malt scotch with a medicinal aura about it. Use it sparingly and the colder outside the better. Any alternate option for polo green ? I really love this fragrance but performance for me is disappointing, I currently have 2018 batch . Very similar to Paco Rabanne pour homme but it lasts much longer and doesn’t have that gross soapy opening pour homme does. I wear this a few times a month but with the current formulation I can get 12 hours out of this.

This is the most ubiquitous fragrances on older men in America, especially the South. Much like my elders, I respect it, but I’d rather spend my time and money on any other piece of my collection. This is one of the few fragrances that I can smell in public and undoubtedly know exactly what the man is wearing. I prefer this oldie more then the new popular fragrences of today. It’s a classic and it’s for a real man not a teeny weeny. If you want to smell like a real man wear this and if you don’t want to smell like a man wear what’s available today.
But that being said, Polo is a classic. Hopefully, it will stay around for a long, long time. Workplaces and society in general are less tolerant of fragrances than they used to be. It has impacted Polo’s wearability in 2019, and you don’t smell it as much as you used to. Supposedly, it’s been reformulated polo dress shirts to reflect this and I’ve read that a lot of men prefer the vintage Cosmair formula to today’s version. One of my favourite frangraces, real masculine smell with great longevity, which gives you time to enjoy it in its different stages.starts of with grassy notes than finishes off with a leathery scent.
