It’s not sweet at all, which makes it stand out from a lot of modern colognes & what draws comments. It has impressive silliage and longevity. My skin absorbs most colognes pretty quickly but this one will last me 8+ hours. All you need is the ’78 Firebird ralph lauren t shirt and to unbutton your shirt revealing a hairy chest to complete the picture. I will most likely give an update in the future, maybe on 6 months when I’ve got a more solid opinion, but I have a feeling I’m only going to like this fragrance more.
It’s not exact but the dominant notes are there. My Mrs hates it but I keep going back to it for more. Not an everyday one for me it has a time and place and will last me for ages. I find echoes of Polo in Tom polo dress shirts Ford’s Patchouli Absolu, but the notes are entirely different. Even so, no surprise that the latter is now my go to scent on the basis that it is redolent of that lush green intoxicating Polo of my youth.
Keep producing just this in that vintage green bottle and I’ll be happy. I’m surprised how little I want to use but it’s because I need to keep this bottle for the rest of my life. Fragrantica is a complete joke at this point.

For me, this is an easy fragrance to love. It’s deep green and herbal, a kind of spicy chypre. It smells like nature, very much like a forest (I’m not sure if the intention here was to evoke a polo playing field or meadow). This is the kind of fragrance that they don’t make now (unless it’s niche).
I much prefer Encre Noire by Lalique for example, when it comes to forest-smelling colognes. I never knew anybody in my background who wore Polo. My only childhood association was a teacher who reminisced that men splashed it on at the gym. I became acquainted with it when I began selling fragrances at a department store and let me tell you, I sold a lot of Polo. We called it Polo green and when we broke a bottle the whole store knew.
