Dewalt 20v Max Miter Saw Review
Speaking of the motor, a 15 amp motor is always desirable for heavy-duty work. As you’re expected to work several hours on some projects, having the ability for a machine to cool down faster is a must-have! Predictably, a 15 amp motor is more than serviceable in this regard, allowing you to focus more on your cuts as opposed to potential overheating.
The Dewalt DWS779 is a corded sliding compound miter saw, so its functionality is impressive when combined with a 12-inch carbide saw blade. Slicing through wood and other soft material is pretty easy with this miter saw, and its portability isn’t too shabby either. While you can’t take it anywhere without an electrical port nearby, you can still move it reasonably far and around one. Before I go over it’s great specs list, I want to mention that the new Hercules miter saw has a strong resemblance to a but in blue. This wouldn’t be the first time Harbor Freight’s in house brand has done this as all other Hercules power tools up to this moment have been Dewalt look alikes. In fact the new Hercules miter saw looks very similar to a Dewalt DWS780 miter saw which is also a double bevel sliding 12 inch miter saw.
I have both fixed and sliding with double bevel but my Dewalt planner is so good I would think this unit would also be a great buy. The depth-of-cut feature works well for an auxiliary bed and fence. I often cut small moldings with my miter saw but find that the factory fence doesn’t give enough support for tiny pieces. The depth-of-cut adjustment keeps the blade from cutting all the way through the plywood bed so I can focus on the cut and not worry about ruining the fixture. This lever can be pulled down so you can keep the blade from cutting through your workpiece. You can adjust the depth precisely by moving the depth-of-cut set screw in or out.

In job site use, we found the saw had plenty of run time to keep up with the crew throughout the day. If a crew had one extra set of batteries, they could work all day even under the most demanding applications. The DHS790AT2 is designed to run off FLEXVOLT 60V battery packs, or you can run it on AC power by simply installing the convertor that plugs into the battery pack sockets. Because the saw is running on 120V from the battery, the conversion to run off 120V AC is fairly simple to do (we REALLY wish they would do the same thing on the FLEXVOLT Table Saw!).
The Dewalt is the best option due to its capacity and is budget-friendly. It comes with a stainless steel dewalt tools plate, which is easy to adjust. The longevity and quality of a table saw are expected to stand out.
