Women love this one and it is the epitome of masculinity. Several women I’ve been with or past girlfriends express that they love the smell and tend to borrow/keep my clothes that have the scent lingering. I know that sounds corny, but it’s true. The bottle is stunning as well and looks luxurious on your shelf. I mainly wear this as an everyday cologne outside of work/office settings. It is my signature scent and although I’ve seen mixed comments about the formula changing, it seems similar to me.
Today it is tough to find a fragrance today that will actually last the whole day. There’s nothing that compares to this 80s powerhouse. And this will last all day into the next day. The sillage and longevity of this beast are the best that I have. Herbal tobacco with some leather and a some fresh fruitiness. I normally don´t like leather, but it´s not too much in this one.
It bursts my millennial safe space bubble for sure. The strongest note here for me is tobacco, and the performance is decent. I will always have Polo in my collection, even if I decided to shrink it down to only 10 fragrances. This is my absolute favorite winter fragrance. The dry down, to me, smells like pine and freshly ground pepper, strong, masculine, professional.
I thought this might be one of those frags that I would take some time to enjoy, but I actually love this one on my initial testing. I haven’t worn it, but usually on skin, fragrances are even better so I’m gonna go ahead and say that I love it. Very masculine and, now, it’s great value. Make no mistake, this is a real gem. It is one of my favorites, and what I think of when I heard the term cologne.
The satchel bag I have still has the paper surrounding the shoulder strap tucked under the flap, and it looks brand new. The scent has definitely changed over the years, and I am fortunate to still have a Cosmair 4oz spray and 8oz splash that I will never use ralph lauren t shirt up, because I have so many other fragrances in my collection now. However, when I want to go back in time to the greatest green, leathery, mossy performance beast of my young adulthood, I reach for this classic. I haven’t tried the most recent formulation.
Polo is one of the easiest scents in the world to overspray. I think we’ve all been in the room with a guy who wore too much of this on too warm of a day. Also, the presence of personal body funk (or the dreaded ‘older man smell’) can render this fragrance just a really ugly air pollutant. I’m sure encounters like this have turned more than a few people against Polo. I think men who have a strong natural smell to their person are better off with a fresher fragrance to wear. But where Polo shines is in longevity and projection.
This 90’s batch is incredibly powerful, long lasting, and rich. An all time classic, although not one that fits well with many occasions due to it’s strength and complexity. If nothing else, worth having in the collection simply to spray yourself and smell it while working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. I love Polo, but I would not consider this a very safe or crowd pleasing scent. This was what my dad wore when I was a kid. I associate it with my dad which is why it feels like an ‘old’ fragrance, but it definitely is dated regardless of that association.
I think every man should own a bottle of this and Aramis. It is simply a CLASSIC ,mature, clean, strong but a common and dated fragrance. I enjoy it very much but I try not to wear this if i’m in a romantic scenario as it just smells too predictable and accessible. I’ve heard that the new formulation is much better, w/ more leather and pine, better note-separation and improved longevity. I just scored a 16oz bottle of this great fragrance in an auction for 80$ and it’s the WarnerLauren juice WOW!!
