Great longevity and sillage in the old version. I will being exploring the new version to see how it compares and if it holds up well in reformulation, it will be my next FB. I am wearing it today for the first time after almost 4 months and what an awesome fragrance! I am not sure if it is my imagination but polo dress shirts it smells much more pleasant that what it did in December. It could be that the contents had to settle or mature in the bottle as is the case with my Aventus and other fragrances. It is almost like the spicy notes are coming through better now as I could mostly only smell a wet green grass note before.
I prefer this oldie more then the new popular fragrences of today. It’s a classic and it’s for a real man not a teeny weeny. If you want to smell like a real man wear this and if you don’t want to smell like a man wear what’s available today. I recently picked up a Cosmair version off of Ebay with only 10 percent remaining in the bottle – totally worth it. One spray – no kidding – was like 10 sprays of the weak 4-cylinder version.
Distinct scent for a discerning man. My parents just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this week and of course he wore Polo when ralph lauren t shirt he took mom out to dinner in his best tweed suit. As long as I live the green-bottled Polo will forever be “my father” in my memory.
Performance wise it is a beast for me. I find that applying some Vaseline on the area and then spraying helps longevity as well (good for your skin, too!). However, I’m youngish so my experience has been positive since most of my peers don’t remember or weren’t around for the 70s or 80s and haven’t smelled this.
